Rebellion: Chapter 2

She woke with a start as a fox barked in the forest somewhere. Skyclan would have trouble if this fox decided to pick a fight with a patrol... Or the fox would go to Riverclan or Thunderclan, their neighboring clans. She got up drowsily and realized that her sister wasn't there, but remembered what had happened yesterday.

This sickness wasnt going to stop its self, maybe she could help Crookedtooth find a remedy! She raced to the Medicine cats den, and Crookedtooth was awake sorting some Juniper Berries, she thought they were Juniper Berries, at least. "Crookedtooth, how are we going to stop the sickness? What if it spreads to another cat?" Snowkit squeaked as Crookedtooth turned around from her herbs and lashed her tail. "No need to talk of the sickness, it hasn't harmed anyone else, and we replaced your old bedding in the nursery. Snowkit, don't be alarmed... Its fine, I'm sure I can find a cure."

Snowkit wasn't sure Crookedtooth could find a cure, even though she was the best medicine cat she'd ever seen. "Crookedtooth, I want to be your apprentice, so I can help save cats!" She burst out. She had never told a cat that she wanted to be a medicine cat before, but she was sure it'd be okay to tell Crookedtooth now. Crookedtooth locked gazes with Snowkit for a few heartbeats. "Sure, you still need to wait till your six moons though." Crookedtooth meowed, turning away from Snowkit and taking soiled Juniper Berries out of a small pile of other berries. Snowkit satisfyingly turned around and padded outside the den. She noticed her mother and her father sitting next to the fresh-kill pile and the dawn patrol returning.

Snowkit walked up to her parents and sat down. "Hi, Snowkit." Her mother meowed affectionately, licking the top of her forehead. "Mother, why isn't father talking?" Snowkit had just now noticed that her father was sitting quietly bending over the mouse they were sharing. "Hes just not to happy about Berrykit..." She look at her father then asked, "Blackfur, are you okay?" Not a word came from him, just a small grunt then he turned away. "You know it wasnt your fault that Berrykit died, Crookedtooth did all she could. You shouldn't be to down..." Sadness filled her eyes, but flickered away as she tried not to think about it.

Blackfur sat up and looked at Firepelt disapprovingly. "Aren't you sad? Or have you forgotten that Berrykit was your daughter?" He snarled then stalked away to the warrior's den. "Oh no..." Her mother said then padded to him, leaving Snowkit along next to a half eaten mouse. She looked down at the mouse then took a nibble out of it. Delicious! She ate the whole thing in a few quick bites.

She noticed Spottedpaw walking towards her. "Hello, Snowkit. I'm sorry about your sister.." Snowkit looked at Spottedpaw and stood up from her mouse. "Its okay... I'm just trying to look on the bright side." Spottedpaw looked at her sympathetically, then sat down curling his tail around his paws neatly. "Well, as long as it down bother you too much." Spottedpaw had just got out of the nursery a few sunrises ago, and they had been good friends. Nutwhisker padded up to Spottedpaw looked at him for a few seconds, then to Snowkit. "Alright Spottedpaw." He meowed, looking back to Spottedpaw. "Lets go hunting with Blackfur and Brightfur." He said, with a hint of a snarl then stalked away to the warriors den to fetch Blackfur.

That night she fell asleep an had better dreams then the night before.
