She woke to frost crusted around her paws. She shook it off. He mother's warmth wasn't enough to stay warm, anymore. The weather was getting colder and colder by the day, and frost was covering the whole camp when she poked her head outside of her den. Today she was being apprenticed! only a moon after Spottedpaw and his brother Whitepaw.
Snowkit padded slowly into the frosted clearing. Cats were beginning to rise. No cat has gotten sick since her sister; maybe the sickness was gone. Maybe it was Berrykit's fate to die... Nutwhisker walked out of the warriors den and padded over to the Highstone. He didn't look at angry as yesterday, maybe he had bad day. "Snowkit, come back in here!" She heard her mother whisper from the nursery.
She crawled back into her nest and took a small nap until she heard Foxstar call cats to the Highstone. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, join here beneath the Highstone!" He yowled loud enough for the whole clan to hear. Cats started to gather beneath the Highstone, meowing with excitement. They obviously remember she was six moons old, and ready to be apprenticed.
"We have a kit who is old enough to be apprenticed." His voice echoed around the rays of sunlight glowing through the trees into the clearing. "Snowkit, your new name until your made into a warrior is, Snowpaw. Your mentor is Blackfur." My father! YES! She thought. "Blackfur," Foxstar said turning to look at Blackfur. "Blackfur, you had a great mentor, Nutwhisker. I expect you to pass on these excellent tallents down to Snowpaw. May StarClan light your paths." Snowpaw padded up to Blackfur, touching noses with him while every cat called her new name.
"Snowpaw! Snowpaw!" Echoed around the clearing. But one thing was missing, she hadn't become a medicine cat apprentice. She looked over at the medicine cat's den. Crookedtooth was standing outside, staring calmly at her. She had not said a word since the meeting started. No, more like since yesterday. Maybe it just wasn't her fate to become a medicine cat, maybe StarClan had told Crookedtooth something.
She noticed Spottedpaw bounding towards her. "Hi, Spottedpaw! We're both apprenticed now, isn't this great?" She meowed excitedly. "Yeah, this is great! We'll be able to train-" He broke off as Nutwhisker called his name. "Spottedpaw! Come here!" He snarled. "Sorry, I've gotta go, maybe we'll see eachother at the training clearing later!" Spottedpaw jumped as his mentor yowled, "NOW!" He turned and followed Nutwhisker out of the camp. "Geez, what a bossy mentor. Glad I don't have him..." She whispered. "Snowpaw, lets go tour the territory." Yes! I've been so exited to see the territory! I wonder if we'll meet any kittypets... She thought. If we do, I'll shred those soft twoleg's pets! "Okay, lets go!"
After her tour of the territory she fell asleep in the apprentices den next to Spottedpaw, comforted by the breathing of him. She dreamed of more cats dieing mysteriously, caughing up blood then collapsing into death. Wait... THATS IT! Thats what happened! And they need... a plant with a fuzzy tip. I dunno what its called, but I bet Crookedtooth does! THEN WE CAN CURE EVERY CAT WHO GETS SICK! She woke the next morning and raced to the medicine cats den. Every cat will be cured!
