So, Ive been running servers since alpha 1.2. I have not yet managed to run a successful one, none have ever had more than 16 members on at any one time. I've tried to tickle peoples interests by making servers with a twist on the normal agenda. Trouble is, others are either having the same ideas as me, or there looking at my ideas and deciding they'd like to do somthing similar. I don't mind it, i just find it annoying.

Take my current server, LegitCityCraft. All i wanted was for a legitimate city to be built with economy aesthetics involved. Maybe i over complicated it, maybe i'm not on in the right Time Zones, (Im in AUS), or maybe i just suck at promoting the server and getting good staff members, but for whatever reason, i gave up on that 2 months later because everyone else that came on did. i changed it to that PLUS some external factions stuff, and that has had varied success, but that's besides the point.

I looked up to see if anyone else had done something similar when i made it, and i simply couldn't find any. Next thing i know, i see EcoCityCraft in the top 20 servers on Minestatus! something that rocked up a whole month after LegitCityCraft did. Now you see them everywhere, Economy City Servers. even one of my Old members opened one.

What I'm trying to say is, If your planning to start a new server, try a server style that is tried and true, something that's been done before, just to see if your any good at running them. Otherwise, someone will come along and do exactly what you did, only better.
