We’ve all seen dragons in films, in fantasy publications, but never anything like the Ender Dragon we see and fear in Minecraft. So this article is a speculation about what I think the Ender Dragon is.

The dragon’s appearance looks unusual, with black scales and menacing purple eyes. This makes me think that the dragon is a futuristic species, but is found in the once barren place of the End, so it is an inter-dimensional creature. And where did the End Cities come from? They couldn’t have been built by civilisation, so maybe the dragon is behind it all? The End Ship might have been its place of residence, and the head that graces the bow could be a long lost relative of the dragon. Maybe the dragon had relatives?

Now the Ender Dragon is respawnable, the dragon may seem to have more powers than it previously did. It may well be immortal, healing itself every time a brave Minecraft player comes and takes it on. But still, we can only speculate on who, or what, the Ender Dragon is.
