If you're a new player to Minecraft the first you may have thought is, pixels WTF? Well yes Minecraft is a 16-bit game and if you play it little bit you'll get past that fact. Now that you're ready to play start up a new world and the first thing you wanna do is hit escape and check the setting. You may want to adjust sound/music and if you have crappy computer like me change the render distance to a lower setting and change the graphics from fancy to fast. Now that you have the lag sorted out head towards the nearest tree. Hold right click to start punching it and when it break you get a wood block (I know floating tree weird) and break the rest of the tree. Press "e" to open your inventory. Click on the wood and put it into the 2x2 square in the top right corner of your inventory. You turn them each into 4 wooden planks. This is going to be your main buolding material but night is coming and wood takes a bit break. Fill in all of the slots of your 2x2 grid with woden planks and get a crafting table. Sumply place it down with right click and again right click on it to ipen the interface. You now have a 3x3 grid. Put 2 planks on top of each other to get some sticks. Put one in the middle and one below it. Them put one plank above the sticks to te right of that plank and below that plank. Like a sideways L and the recipe can be flipped. Use this axe to get about half a stack (32) of wood and turn it into plans but keep about 4 a log. Before it becomes night build a base and make sure you have a roof. It's dark in there so if your crafting table put the sticks like you did with the axe and put the planks across the top to get a pickaxe. Dig inder the drt to find stone break about 32 of those and it gives you connlestone. Put 8 cobblestone in the crafting table leaving out the center to get a furnace. Put your 4 logs in the top slot and 3 planks in the bottom slot. Wheb its done you'll have 4 charcoal. Put it on top of a stick in crafting to get torches an infinite source of light. You can also burn ores in your furnaces to get ingots to make better tools. Usinthe cobble stone you can can craft tools better than wood. I hoe this helped you newbies and for more help check out the minecraft wiki for any recipes or tips. And don't forget that monsters come out at night. I didn't tell you that already? Wooops....

you can argue the 16-bit part (Classic 16-bit games are two deminsional, Minecraft is three). Other than that very detailed.
