I have to admit that I've been on YouTube for a lot longer than my fair share, and that includes both making, watching, and reviewing some of the many hours of gaming and comedy videos that are uploaded every single day by members of this community. But do most of you make it a priority to watch a person who has spent hours making a single video, and only has 300 subs or so, or do you focus on making time to watch your favourite YouTubers? I'm going to go out on a limb and say the latter. And that's not a problem; I'm not going to sit here and have a go at you for prioritising something that you know you will enjoy over something that you've never heard of.
The thing is, a lot of the times, you're missing videos that you might actually enjoy, simply because perhaps they are uploaded by an account by the name "Creepers4Us" or "180Quickscoper" instead of "SkyDoesMinecraft" and "TheSyndicateProject". But I know for a fact that even if you think those names are bad (granted, they are), so would have the name SkyDoesMinecraft when he first started creating his content on YouTube, because it is all dependent on perspective; when someone is well-known or logical in the community, and it's name is used commonly, it becomes normal, even if previously it was something to mock constantly.
And what I've considered is that those YouTubers who you watch started off with those 300 subscribers, heck, they started on 0, but they kept at it, and the reason they most likely kept at it is that they had people watching, people who didn't just consistenly ignore his videos simply due to his name + subscriber count, and that's kind of the reason for this blog post. I'm not trying to rant or anything, just trying to inform you all how much of a difference you can make by checking out a video or two from the smaller members of the community, because you never know - they might be the next Syndicate.
So this blog is sort of a message to both viewers and content creators alike - watch smaller channels and support them if you enjoy, and if you are one of those smaller channels just remember that there's always hope in a community like this. A single thing can change everything.
And that kind of brings me on to another topic I want to write about: something that I will hopefully develop into an article of its own. And that is hate. Negative feedback really doesn't affect the bigger youtubers, because they have thousands of comments every day to read through if they even bother, and one criticism isn't going to change their actions or make them feel negatively in any way, shape or form, unless it is a very personal comment. But a single hateful comments left in the comment section below the video of someone with 10, 15, 20 subscribers is going to mean that they doubt themselves, and feel bad about the content they are creating.
I know this because I used to have a channel with a few of my friends, and we were growing relatively quickly, and then a few members of another team started sending us lots of hateful messages, and it really did affect the way we went about things in general, not just our YouTube channel. To all the trolls and haters out there that do really take pleasure in spreading negativity around on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, even Planet Minecraft, whatever it may be, just think again about who you are sending hate to. Do you really want it to change them for the worse, or would you rather just allow them to continue, happily. It's just something to think about.
The community can be a harsh, harsh place, and that's why I find PMC very refreshing; things are not so negative, and although there are the trolls and the haters, they are a chipped piece of coal in a sea of diamonds - all of you. Thank you all for helping me to be a part of the community.
Now that the soppy part is over, I just want to say that to any YouTubers with anything under 1k subscribers, I salute you; the fact that you continue to upload despite not being famous on YouTube, means that you really are dedicated, and recording because YOU want to, not because of the fame and money that comes with it for those at the top of the chain. I know how hard it is to grow, and it can be furstrating at times, but that frustration encourages me to continue... I want to get better and better and see my channel grow, and the only way that happens is by those people who don't always just watch people in the millions, but instead someone with a mere 22 subscribers. Plus, those who leave feedback of any positivity, even criticism if it is genuinely constructive criticism, show me how to improve for the better, and that's what I think this community that we are in should be about, not the amount of subscribers you have.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you found it both enjoyable and informative. It's just something that I thought would be helpful to adress. If you want to support me on YouTube, click here and subscribe. My latest video came out today, as well. Diamond, favourite, comment, and all that jazz if you enjoyed, want to support me, or just want to challenge something I wrote above. Thank you to every single person who has read this far.
