Day 1 - Imagine
Since I don't know when, I saw myself as a realist. I don't ever remember having an imagination, even in my earliest memories. I was that person who'd say, "New glasses," or "A different haircut," when asked what I'd like to change about my physical appearance, when other kids said, "A different eye color," or even, "Wings."

I should be grateful for what I have, a better paying job than most of my peers and the sweetest, most beautiful girlfriend anyone could ask for, but sometimes, sometimes, I feel myself longing for more from my monotonous life.

I snapped out of it right after I felt that longing, telling myself, Jacob, stop. You've got a great life. Now, go to your next class.

I walked upstairs to my English class, my last class of the day and a required high school course, early, sighing after reading the first PowerPoint slide showing on the board.

"Fantasy Writing," with a subtitle of "Use your imagination."

As if I had one of those, I thought, slumping in my seat and staring down at my blank notebook paper.

Our teacher started talking us through the lesson. She kept mentioning how we'd have to use our imagination to write our last story of the year. I worried over and over what a guy with an imagination as existent as magic, such as I, could write.

I spent about thirty minutes of silent work time - half the class - staring at a blank notebook page, not daring to write a word. Halfway through, I did go to the bathroom, though I didn't really have to, reading all the graffiti on the graffiti on the walls of my stall, just to waste time.

I thought, this is ridiculous, just ask the teacher for help, so I did.

I rode my left hand, extending it to the maximum height I could patiently, waiting for my teacher to come over to my desk and ask me, "What do you need help with?"

She was here, asking that exact question.

"I can't imagine," I complained.

"Of course you can! Everyone can, you just have to try," she replied with a smile.

"Okay," my unsure voice said in a soft tone.

For the first time in my life, I stared up at the classroom ceiling, with rectangular shaped sections, trying to imagine. A small thought popped into my head, subconsciously turning into a visual. I was imagining, realizing it was the more I wanted.
Day 2 - Lilies
In a backyard garden, around a low deck of rotting wood, there were garden beds. Nothing special, just ordinary rectangular wooden boxes, but in them lived fairies. Flower fairies, to be exact. Lily fairies, one living inside each lily in each of the garden beds.

When one dies, a new one would almost instantaneously be born in a new bud on the old one's plant. By the time it opened, a gorgeous new fairy, as beautiful as the flower itself, would be ready for the world.

Today, a young fairy girl, Laura, emerged from a newly bloomed Tiger Lily in the left middle bed if you looked down from the deck.

Laura awoke to loud footsteps and a crowd of high-pitched voices sing-shouting, "Welcome!"

One fairy stepped forward from the rest. She was dressed in a dress made from a petal from each species of lily imaginable tied at the waist with a sturdy piece of grass, her long, wavy, dark brown hair falling past her waist, and her green eyes glinting in with the sunlight too bright for Laura's tired eyes to handle. To tie this look together, she was wearing a golden tiara matching her wings.
"Welcome. I'm Flora. We knew you were coming after the terrible death of our last queen, so I'm queen now. Who are you?" The well-dressed fairy introduced herself.

"Laura," Laura spoke in a soft, quiet tone barely above a whisper.

"Welcome Laura," Flora said and the others repeated.

As the other fairies left, Laura felt the responsibility bestowed upon her just based on her birth-flower and for joining the community. She was ready to begin her journey.
Day 3 - Moon
I was waiting. The bright light of the full moon in contrast to the dark midnight sky illuminated the park, glinting off the wooden bench behind me. I checked my watch for what seemed like the millionth time that day.

"12:01"

She should be here any minute now, I thought.

Each Sunday at midnight, my girlfriend, Rose, and I planned meeting at this park and going somewhat on a date. This was the first time. I get that this isn't a good date spot or time, but everything else is too public for my parents' strict no-dating-until-you're-an-adult rule, we decided to make it work. The park was an ordinary park, with a playground I loved when I was younger, a seating area with chairs, some sports stuff I never really paid attention to, as I never was really sporty, and some super short, super boring hiking trails.

After looking around the park, walking in each area twice, Rose was nowhere to be seen.

It was 12:14. I was getting worried now, as as long as I can remember, Rose has always been very punctual. I thought of some reasons she wasn't here, getting worse as I continued. At first, I thought that she may have forgotten and finally, I got scared she was with someone else, but I kicked that idea out of my head.

I decided to give her a call, and of course, it went to voicemail. I recorded my message, "Hi, it's Avery. I'm at the park. Just wondering if you're still coming. Bye!"

Then, I just waited.

I felt a vibration in my sweatshirt pocket and pulled my phone out to check the notifications. I squealed with joy internally; it was a text from Rose.

I read the message. "Rose: My parents just went to sleep. Be there soon!"

I looked at my watch, which reflected the glow of the moon, counting the seconds we'd see each other. Finally, at 12:58, Rose parked her bicycle next to the fence, taking off her helmet to reveal her shiny hair.

After checking my watch just to wait for this moment, Rose and I had our first kiss under the bright full moon.
Day 4 - Tree
I've seen many things. I've seen major events in human history, yet they were minor to me. I've seen many friends die from illness, bugs, and worst of all, get marked to be cut for worthless stuff, such as parking lots and buildings. Of course, I've seen new trees get planted, maybe to apologise for humanity's actions, but we could never get as close as I got with the others in my old forest. Though, I never thought I'd see the day I'd get marked for chopping.

I heard the man who marked me remark, "This one's for October 11th," to his teammate.

That was exactly a week from then! I didn't have much time.

Usually, I despise humans, but there was this one little girl I'd become especially fond of. She was 8 years old, young and innocent, but most importantly, she still believed in fairies. I know I've lied to her, writing back when she addressed the fairies in her letters, but, to be honest, without many other trees around, I've been feeling pretty lonely. I've never written to her first, she's always written a letter to the "fairies", leaving it on a very specific branch of mine, and I'd reply as "a fairy," leaving my note on the exact same branch.

This time, I seriously needed help, so I wrote, "Dear Friend," - she would never give me or the fairies her real name - "Our tree has been marked to be cut down and we're too small to do anything. Could you wash off the spray paint?
Thanks,
A Fairy"

Two days later, the girl was washing the "graffiti", as she told her dad when she asked him how to wash off spray paint, off my bark. It felt like a spa day. I may have fallen asleep for part of it, it was so relaxing, but, soon enough, I saw the marking removed. I was saved!

At night on October 11, the day I didn't get cut down, I left a necklace with a pendant of a bottle full of glitter - a "pixie dust" necklace - at my roots addressed to "my friend" to thank her for letting me stay here to see this world for longer.
Day 5 - Water
I finished a glass of water in one gulp. Little did I know that it wasn't an ordinary glass of water. Soon after, I went to bed.

The next morning, I felt a tingling in my legs, my arms, no, my whole body. At first, I thought my body must be asleep, but no, it wasn't that bad kind of tingling, it was an indescribable good tingling. I got out of bed, but it wouldn't go away.

I heard my sisters talking as they made breakfast from the hallway.

"Last night, I poisoned Will's water, but I checked on him while he was asleep and he was still alive," my younger sister, Elisa, stated.

"Ugh, let's hope it just didn't kick in yet," said my older sister, Rebecca, though she went by Becca, said.

I shivered, my teeth chattered, and my feet lifted off the ground. I uncontrollably flew into the kitchen.

Elisa rolled her eyes while Becca complained, "He's alive and flying. Elisa, I told you don't get your potions mixed up."

I realized I was in danger when these villainous girls - my sisters - pulled out their weapons - Elisa a wand and Becca a knife.

I knew exactly what to do, but there was one problem - I couldn't control my flight. At first I tried internally screaming instructions on where to fly, but that wouldn't work, so I tried to calmly concentrate on getting out the door. It worked!

Now that I was out the door of my family's house, I had to get lost, like my sisters had been telling me all those years. I don't know what to think about whether or not I should have drunk that glass of water
