Hello everybody, today I'll be talking about superiorityo and how it shouldn't exist, as you can see. I have to get this one off my shoulders, because I find it a problem often on many sites, or even servers.
Elitism is when somebody is supposedly better than another. It's also when somebody thinks of themselves more than others, which is obviously wrong of them to do. Let's say somebody uploads a bunch of spam uploads, and becomes level 50 because of it. Somebody uploads one amazing submission, and gets to level 30 with it. (Yes, it's unrealistic, I know) Since the user who uploaded spam posts is a higher level, that person thinks that he's better than the person who uploaded one of the best/most popular submissions on PMC altogether. The spam poster acts like all of his submissions should have as many views as what the other user has, and comments immature things like, "thees sux" on their submission, hoping to influence people to check out THAT user's uploads because he's a higher level, and he's better. (Or so he says)
They talk down to people, saying things such as, "Your skeens sux nd u shuld layve pmc foravr" and, "Wow. I have less subscribers, and my work is WAY better than yours. Congratulations on your luck, dude." These posts sometimes actually make people stop uploading, or leaving the PMC community altogether. The user who comments/PM's this gets reported, and when he's caught for breaking rules (Such as blackmailing users and things related) and he gets banned, the member tries to get the Site Moderator who banned him for breaking the rules demoted immediately. He gets banned again, (Moderators ruling is final) and then again reports the Moderator. Not only will this get you a bad reputation over all members and Moderators, but it spreads the word that you're disrespectful, and you'll probably find yourself losing exp more and more. Why? Because people unsubscribed, un-diamonded your work, finally when it gets to the point where that user gets to a lower level than the user was originally "hating" on. The member would not only feel INSANELY foolish, but the user who was getting bullied would have an excuse for giving that member who was disrespectful hatemail of his own. Sure, if THAT member goes too far, then they'll be banned too, but if people deserve it, sometimes moderators may let it slide.
Nobody should think they're more elite than others, no matter what work you upload. Everybody can have their own opinion, and if you spew hate at them, then you'll turn out looking like the foolish one. Not only does it have you in a check-mate in just about every way, (Moderators/Members hating you, losing exp, etc) but you yourself would receive hatemail similar to the messages that you sent. But the difference is that you deserve it, and can't report the user(s) that did this to you, because everybody will not only not believe you, but think that you deserve it.
Let's say that a server has a top-list command, showing the members with the most PvP Kills, or the most "elite" members who've played the longest. Some of those members act immodestly to new players, who have no chance to hoping to pass their score. They act superior to them, and treat them incorrectly, with power "getting to their heads".
Some users of a higher rank (VIP and things like that) act more elite to other members. Even if you get the rank for donating, they act like they should earn a nobel prize for donating their 2 dollars to get 5 diamonds and the VIP rank. Members who use their money carefully get hated upon, because they have a "lower" rank than them. (Yes, quotation marks on lower because the only thing you get for donating is a rank that often doesn't give you more commands than what you originally had)
Even if staff members are "elite" when it comes commands and permissions, it's not right of them to act like it. There are some servers that have staff members that are insanely cocky, and feel that they're the most important member on the server. And it turns out when they think that, there are usually regular members that the owner's never seen that are more fit to be a Moderator/staff member.
Thanks for reading!
