Experience Grinding: The Paradox

One of the things in both Minecraft and Planet Minecraft that really irks me is experience grinding. In PMC this entails posting tons of low-quality or knockoff submissions purely for the levels, and in Minecraft this would be mob farms. I will go over both separately, since they are different on the outside, but you will soon see the principle is the same.

On PMC, people really want to get noticed. They think that the higher level they are, the more people will see them, and so they post tons of random stuff in order to rake in the XP. The problem with this is that to get popular, you need to be good, and to be good you need to post high quality content. If you are racking in the XP with your 1-second skins, you are accomplishing nothing except getting people annoyed.

It doesn't even make sense, because even if you did get to Lvl. 50 on PMC for your crap, so what? What did you gain? People want to subscribe so they can see your awesome stuff! People want subscribers so they can broadcast their hard work to a receptive audience, and get praised for their submissions, but if no hard work is being done at all, what are you doing it for? Bragging rights? I mean seriously...
"I am lvl. 50 lololol im da beast subscribe yolo "
No-one cares man. People like work, not levels.

In Minecraft, some people aren't satisfied with the amount of loot they get while exploring or mining, so they decide to make mob farms. This means with no work, they can get all their crucial supplies... what? Isn't the point of survival to work hard for your supplies, and now you are just sitting there, waiting for it to flow to you? Wheres the fun in that?

Experience is a REWARD , not the reason to do something! Experience encourages you to be active on PMC and to explore in Minecraft, its not the main goal at all! Fun and creativity are the centerpieces for MC and PMC alike, Levels are just a by-product of that. If you really want experience, forget about it and do things for your own amusement.

PS: I have posted anything for almost a week now because PMC has been glitching a lot for me, but I hope this will be fixed soon! I hope you enjoyed!

You know, there is a way of mob grinding where you actually have to kill something. Self-Killing mob spawners do give items, but not experience.

Meh, the "killing" you refer to is spam clicking.

People spam-click when there are mobs surrounding them. It's not about the spam-clicking.

When I see the word paradox, the first words that come to mind are either "Snake you can't do that!", or "Snake what have you done?". But anyways great blog!
