Hi guys, Greytopher here with another blog! This time, I will be talking about the categories of PMC, and which categories are easy/hard to get 'famous' in. Hopefully, this blog will enlighten some of you to see what competition you're up against. I also want to say, I've been doing blogs quite frequently this week because I want to make up for last week; as I didn't do any for around 7 days. So, let's get started!

It's Hard To Get 'Known', But What Category is the Easiest?

To be honest, all categories are hard to compete with for glory. They each have their own set group of people who post to them, and everyone usually keeps to themselves. In my experience, there are some categories that get a lot of views, but no subscribers, and vice versa. Each category has its own group of well known people, and those people tend to get the front page. For example, in Projects, mostly if something is posted, you can see it would be viewed by disco, Variede, lynchynic, and others, but those are the people that come from the top of my head. As for those people, there are people like that in the modding, skinning, blogs, and even servers.

Projects...

Since I'm no skilled builder, the projects section probably wont prosper for me. Although I do enjoy the awesome builds that the community makes, I couldn't do so in return, as blogging is my true home here. Anyways, I find thatprojects is the hardest section to compete with. A lot of people post there, and there's a lot of people whoa are 'famous' from it. That being said, the people who are famous from it tend to get the popular reel more and more often, thus lessen your chances of getting on the reel.

Now, I'm not saying 'don't post to projects! You'll never get famous!' I'm saying 'Try your best, but be wary of hard competition!' It's a Minecrafter vs Minecrafter world out there, I don't want you guys to be disappointed, only to know what you're up against.

The upside of making it on the projects section of PMC is the amount of experience and subscribers you get from it. The thing that I like from the projects section of PMC, is that you gain a good amount of subscribers while gaining a high level. This makes anyone happy, and more inspired and motivated to do what they want.

Skinning...

Skinning is one of those sections, like projects, that's hard to get famous on. There's a lot of bad skins out there, though (no offense to you skinners out there), but it's rare to see the good ones. The good skins are the awesomely shaded ones, that are completely original and snazzy to wear. It's hard to come by them now a days, since, from what I see, skinning takes time to get good at. I rarely see people, on their first skin, be a master at shading. Almost all of the skinners that are very known had started in a rut, and now live in castle, metaphorically speaking.

The popular reel consists of the same couple of people, give or take two to three. The main people on the reel that I see, are usually Niko, Vrej, the_soup, and WonderCat. These people are on the reel because they're good at what they do, and frankly the rest of the skinning section on PMC aren't the best quality it can be.

The Skinning section of PMC unfortunately does not achieve much expereince points, but rather it does achieve a lot of subscribers. Why, you may ask? Because skinners post a lot of awesome content constantly, and are worth subscribing to. That's why a lot of PMCers with a lot of subscribers tend to be skinners.

Texture Packs...

(To be honest, I almost forgot to include this in...) Texture packs are an awesome tool for everything. They make your Minecraft look and feel better (for the most part), Texture packs are very time consuming, and I appluade everyone who tries their best to make an original one, but it can be a little... repetitive at times. I see a lot of simple packs and RPG packs, but every now and then you'll get something very original.

Unlike projects or skinning, texture pack makers aren't always on the popular reel, since it takes a lot of time to think and create a texture pack. You don't have a 'central point of people' who are always on the reel, which is good in a way; it doesn't rush people to make bad pieces of art.

Texture packs are the biggest source of EXP on PMC, in my opinion. They serve our highest ranking members over 1 million EXP, and subscribers. But, on a side note, USUALLY, they don't get may subscribers, because as I said, people would not subscribe to people who don't post often enough for it to be worthy.

Mods...

Mods these days, as Oliver has said in one of his blogs, are a dying race. They aren't very known in terms of all the mods being the same. I go onto the Mods section of PMC, and find things that I've already seen before, such as 'Blah's Mo' Tools and Armour mod!' Or 'Blah's Gun Mod!'. Sadly, that's what I feel like I see all day, and every now and then, something original pops up.

The Mods section doesn't really have its own 'people', I guess. Since mods take extreme amount of time (if you want a quality mod), the people who make them don't post as frequently. Sadly, we are stuck with the same old mods every day, hoping that one day something original will pop up out of the midst of destruction.

Mods do not usually calculate too many subscribers. I've seen many players who post mods that are level 60, with no more then 100, or 200 subscribers. That is little compaired to what the other categories have to offer. But, mods DO rack up a lot of experience points. So, if that matters at all, the experience is greater than the subscriber count, on this one.

Servers...

For this one, I will keep it short since... well, it's servers. Servers are posted once, and then bumped everyday to get back to the top of the list. There is the top list, yes, but servers basically only rack up EXP, subscribers... not so much. I don't really blame them; it's only one post, and it's not worth subscribing to an account that only posts the server, and nothing else.

Blogs...

Ah, now we're on my turf. Blogging, in my opinion, is at a middle level when coming onto the popular reel. It's not hard, but it's not easy. It depends on who you are, as a person. If you're talkitive, informational, and helpful, you could make the reel. But if you're typing blogs that barely meet the limit, are not very interesting, and not relating to MC or PMC, then you'll most likely not make the reel. What I like about blogging is, it doesn't have to be so strict onto one topic. There are so many topics to blog from, and the ideas are endless. I recommend starting on blogging, it's a ton of fun.

When it comes to who's usually on the popular reel, it comes down to myself, OliverFrenchie, Snowylips, Plyr_783, and Juicy_orange. Give or take a few, but those are the ones that come from the top of my head. There are tons of famous bloggers out there, so don't worry if I forgot to include you! Anyways, there are the occasional couple of people that make it, but there isn't that much competition in blogging. A lot of blogs are mainly of CoD let's plays, art, and others. Sadly, those actually sometimes make the popular reel, but other than that, I don't think it's too difficult to do it!

Blogging, as I said depends on the person. For me, I don't get a ton of EXP, but more or less subscribers. These past couple of days it's been vice versa, but overall it's like that, but that's just my personal experience.

This is my take on what each category is like; do not take my complete word on it as it varies for everyone!

Well, on my turf, you will find my mega castle set in the blogs.
My army base in the forums and an outpost in the skins.
Some old friends live in the textures, so you'll find me there.
I sometimes like to visit projects.

I'm actually very stoked when I read this. I had the first Chapter to my series Stranded on the reel. I see it every so often. I'm very happy about that. Blogging is probably the funnest thing for me to do here, as it allows me to express my opinions, reviews, stories, and share other things among the community.
