Dear Minecraft addicts...
This is my first blog at PMC, and actually I'm more interested in building and sharing my projects.
Just wanted to say.
I'm playing Minecraft now since over a year. And I'm still asking myself, what the reason is, that this game fascinates millions of people from all over the world. (By the way, I come from Germany.)
So from where does the enthusiasm come from?
I made myself some thoughts about this questions, and I figured out some "main reasons" for this - call it addiction.
Well, firstly there is the endless freedom that brings an open-world game with them. You "wake" up in a new generated world which grows and grows more while exploring, generating in real-time around you. You can see mountains, lakes, caves, beaches, deserts, snow lands, vegetation and much more. And everything is totally different... so point one is: Freedom.
Next point is the gameplay which is based on the "primary instinct of the human". The principle of the hunter and gatherer. Gathering materials, food, tools, weaponry etc. at day. And hunting zombies, creepers, skeletons etc. at night. The aim is: survive! Besides that, there is the possibility of crafting and melting, which gives the game thousands of possibilities to build some comfortable shelter or a giant palace. In the end, everyone has the choice of beeing a hunter, a gatherer, a miner, a builder, a survivor or when playing online, a trader or politican... there are so many possibilities of giving your little cubically friend a "history and purpose". There's much more to say about the topic "gameplay" but I'll try to keep it short.
The third and last point (for me) is the creativity. Your gather materials, and you build with them. And you can build everything! There are no limits. You can just live out you creativity. Even with cubes. And that's exactly the point that particulary excites me about Minecraft. Just to create everything you can imagine: huge skyscrapers, small mud huts, cozy brick houses, floating castles, magnificent castles, underground cities... no limits. That's it what makes Minecraft a rarity!
In my opinion, this three are the main reasons for the fascination of Minecraft. But what is the goal of this game? For me it's simple: The goal of the game is to find a destination!

why I like minecraft: ENDLESS POTENTIAL!!! I love free-style kinds of games, like sandbox and stuff, but this is so much more!!!

Why I am playing this game: kinda sounds like 2 questions ago "why I like minecraft" so, just take the answer from that question
When: I can't remember, but I started in beta 1.6.6, and 1.7 came in around a month
What makes it different: ok, get a huge bowl, throw a sword in, throw potential in it, throw a globe in it, throw in human instinct, then put a lid on, shake it, and bake it at 400*F for 1 hour, what comes out? minecraft

And by the way, I play now since the Alpha was released! That's a year ago. And I still do play it. If you want, you can visit our Server. =)

The sheer amount of possibilities. And the occasional panic attacks of creepers RIGHT BEHIND YOU!!

I love creativity! No matter where I'm playing, I always have a tree farm on my roof. (That's creativity for you!)

It's not like COD or GTA4. Anyone can play. No violence (except animal cruelty). You can just do whatever.

What makes you so fascinated of this game? Just the concept. You wake up, walk around, punch some trees, and in about a week you have a castle.
How old are you? 13
Why are you playing this game? The way it can combine the survival sense into the more sandboxy creative sense.
When did you started playing it? When Creative was first out. I've been a longtime follower =D
And what makes it so different to other games? Just the way it differs. There is no other game like it. Roblox is based off of LEGO's, and there aren't many other games that can compare to Minecraft.
