The tired light drizzled through the blinds
birds whistled and sang the morning away.
My tired mind warrants the roar of mankind,
The hives bustle and the early bird panics in disarray.
We swarmed like ants crawling in unison,
flocked inwards, in one collective rush,
To the metal corridor we sit, hushed ,
Cramped together like one packed parcel.
Yet the loudest noise was the silence.


A wave of unfamiliar faces, that's all I see,
attracted to pieces of metal and plastic.
At every stop another wave arrived,
And flooded the tram to my surprise,
There was barely any room to breathe,
the amount of people seemed contrived.
There was no nook or cranny left to fill.
Everyone remained still.


Bright glows and colours scattered around the tram,
there devices wrapped around them like hooks,
surrounded by bubbles of isolation,
these handhelds attracted all looks.
Like drones we sat idle and lifeless,
awaiting the for the voice of omniscience.
