Hello! This is nyanekomimi here with a skinning tutorial! Here I will be showing you three methods of skinning that range from simple to complicated. I hope you can make some use out of this tutorial and enjoy!
Method One (Easy) : Up, Down, Inside, Out
In this method you are pretty much just doing the old dark down-light up. The title actually makes sense, though.
1. - Up: find a color about 20% less saturated and/or lighter than a base color. Line the upper parts of the skin or o shinyo parts with this.
2. - Down: find a color about 20% more saturated and/or darker than a base color. Line the lower parts of the skin or o foldso
U - - Use opacity changes to fade from dark to base to light.
4. ??????
5. PROFIT!

Method Two (Moderate): Cornerstones
This method uses the same style as Up, Down, Inside, Out but instead of up and down it goes by dark corners to being lighter in the center.
1. Corners: find a color about 20% less saturated and/or lighter than a base color. Line the corners of the skin or o shinyo parts with this.
2. Center: find a color about 20% more saturated and/or darker than a base color. Line the corners of the skin or o foldso .
3. Use opacity changes to fade from dark to base to light.

Method Three (Complicated): Spot Shading
When shading a skin using this method a minecraft skin can come out amazing-if done right.
1. First you want to use a color 20% darker or more saturated than a base and find points where there would be a shadow or depression. Here are some example areas:
· Breasts (female skins only! Unless Ito s a fat male)
· Lower abdomen
· Elbows and inner arms
· Knees and inner legs
· Feet
· Fingers
· Lower facial corners
· Bottom pieces of hair
· Shoulder blades
· Spine
2. Use opacity changes to shade out from these points.

Tips:
· If you skin looks dull, use a color burn effect or saturate the color more.
· Remember, transparency comes out black in-game on any part of the skin other than the hat layer
· If youo re using black, dono t use jet black as your base, use a dark gray
· Eyes make it great! For a cool effect use the normal eye color then either a color that is a 20% different hue or the main clothing color
There you have it, three ways to shade your minecraft skins!
