Upcoming Major/Minor Changes and Shuffles in CANIS MINOR

NOTE: The Mangrove Buttons are shown in the "1.18.2" image are for demonstrative purposes only. Obviously Mangrove buttons do not exists in 1.18.2. The "1.18.2" screenshot is merely showing what you get when you load v0.1.380 into 1.19.

Future version of CANIS MINOR with aforementioned changes is previewed in the above screenshot.

This warning is being Issued ahead of the Update so you, my dear builders and decorators, have a chance to prepare! You have a few options, such as removing all of your current acacia buttons and then replacing them with Mangrove buttons later, OR wait until WorldEdit comes out, and replacing all current acacia buttons with Mangrove ones. Simply select your builds, and run the following commands one after another:

//replace acacia_button[face=floor,facing=north] mangrove_button[face=floor,facing=north]
//replace acacia_button[face=floor,facing=south] mangrove_button[face=floor,facing=south]
//replace acacia_button[face=floor,facing=east] mangrove_button[face=floor,facing=east]
//replace acacia_button[face=floor,facing=west] mangrove_button[face=floor,facing=west]
//replace acacia_button[face=wall,facing=north] mangrove_button[face=wall,facing=north]
//replace acacia_button[face=wall,facing=south] mangrove_button[face=wall,facing=south]
//replace acacia_button[face=wall,facing=east] mangrove_button[face=wall,facing=east]
//replace acacia_button[face=wall,facing=west] mangrove_button[face=wall,facing=west]
//replace acacia_button[face=ceiling,facing=north] mangrove_button[face=ceiling,facing=north]
//replace acacia_button[face=ceiling,facing=south] mangrove_button[face=ceiling,facing=south]
//replace acacia_button[face=ceiling,facing=east] mangrove_button[face=ceiling,facing=east]
//replace acacia_button[face=ceiling,facing=west] mangrove_button[face=ceiling,facing=west]
If you have very widespread use of Acacia buttons, I suggest selecting portions of your world instead of trying to select your whole world all at once.

If your world does not have commands to run WorldEdit with, then Open your world to LAN and select the option to enable cheats. Then run the WorldEdit commands.

If you are on Bedrock and cannot install WorldEdit: God have mercy on your soul. In my defense, CANIS MINOR does not officially support Bedrock at this time, and I cannot provide support for that platform.

That said, if you are on Java but absolutely do not want to enable cheats: The Wandering trader will sell an item called a "Mangrove Propagule" for 5 Emeralds, assuming you do not have any Wandering Trader Trades datapacks. Buy those, then place down some dirt blocks, right click the dirt blocks with a bottle of water to turn them into mud, then plant the Propagule on top. Over time, these should grow into Mangrove trees. If you can only afford one Propagule, all is not lost: bone meal the Mangrove leaf blocks to spawn more Propagules, and harvest those. You only really need to buy one Propagule. If it simply will not grow no matter how long you wait or bone meal it, the Propagule may not have enough light or head clearance. Mangrove Trees are VERY tall, I would give plant them outdoors with no roofs or overhangs above them. You may also consider expanding the single mud block to a 7x7 square platform with the Propagule in the middle.

Chop the trees down and craft the logs into planks. 1 Planks = 1 Button, and getting a bunch of logs should not be a particularly arduous process assuming you have scaffolding and a bone meal farm to help. Composting Kelp, Moss Blocks, Cacti, or Nether Wart Blocks from the Giant Fungi in the Nether is a good way of getting tons of bone meal easy. At any rate, I suggest just wandering around your world with a few stacks of mangrove logs and replacing Acacia buttons as you come across them. It may be worth just using Mangrove wood as your default carry-everywhere wood for this purpose.

For anyone who has ever used my old Acacia Buttons, you've probably wondered why they didn't look like they were made of Acacia to begin with. The original thought of course, was that the wood was stained the redder color, but to be honest, I just really wanted mailboxes, and didn't want to use any of the other wood set's buttons to make them, and Acacia I figured barely anyone used and so it got the short straw, and it's buttons didn't match the wood. For all intents and purposes, Acacia Buttons being red mailboxes was a PLACEHOLDER. I'm sure you all can imagine how happy I was when they announced Mangrove wood. Working on that right now, actually, just finished up making all the Acacia overhauls. It looks a LOT better now, and is honestly worth building with now. You'll see all that when the 1.19 update comes out.

Fun Fact: Acacia Wood was the FIRST Wood set I added to CANIS MINOR, and the First one I was actually happy with and did not immediately dispose of as soon as I made it. The stuff SAVED the pack. I was legit worried if I couldn't make any Wood work out, I would have to abandon the pack. CANIS MINOR exists today because of Acacia!

Sorry this blog is a LONG winded way of saying "Hey! I changed the Acacia Buttons! They look like Acacia now and are different Furniture Pieces! The Mailboxes are Mangrove buttons, now! Sorry, you have to change out your buttons now"

So uhh... Sorry about that! Major shakeups like this where the ENTIRE button set is just totally changed into something else entirely should be rare. Some other shuffles are predicted but none will be as major as this.

Just so y'all can see into my thoughts for future changes:
  • Granite will get an Overhaul at some point to become Brick's colors. The current Double Granite Slab texture may or may not become the new granite texture. But the entire rest of the Granite set of blocks will now become Brick colored.
  • Some of the Blackstone Buttons, namely the "Gilded" ones, look lame to me now. I don't like them. I will probably update their models. They look more like Tombstones, which should be more useful.
  • Warped and Crimson buttons have a "Room Divider" appearance for their floor placements. These may eventually be updated to be benches much like the Acacia Benches. Some of the Warped buttons in particular may become more "Oxidized Copper"-like in appearance. It's benches, if I go with benches, will probably look like those green park benches you see in big cities. They may be double sided OR backless, one of the two. Probably double sided. Crimson buttons will be backless benches. The current Warped button ceiling placement that looks like a globe will be updated into an Oxidized Copper Windchimes appearance. The globe model will be spiffed up a bit and replace the "Globe" banner pattern item for use in Invisible item Frames.
  • The current Heart of the Sea item appearance looks like trash and will be overhauled. Possibly become a 3D furniture item? The conduit outer shell will remain the same, however.
  • Red Sandstone may be retextured to either match Acacia's colors OR Oak's Colors OR maybe whatever Color Mud Brick ends up being which will probably match Brown Mushroom Block's colors OR the Bee Nest's colors. No matter what, Red Sandstone is getting an Overhaul sometime down the line.
  • I hate all the Music Discs, I'm making them into Cassettes like 11 currently is, but colorful and not messed up. The Jukebox's texture will be Overhauled for this.
  • The Dead Bush will probably get an Overhaul at some point
  • As previously Implied, the Banner Patterns are being turned into furniture. Most folks just keep them in a chest somewhere if they craft them at all, may as well make use of them in other ways. Yes, I know it won't make sense with the loom, OH WELL.
  • Because of the Echo Compass, I intend to change the Compass and the Clock. Nothing Major planned, though, just some refinement.
  • Dripstone may be recolored to match whatever color Mud Brick ends up Being. The current "Granite Palette" is being fully depricated.
  • Most of the Leaf blocks *May* lose their Biome tint. Very on the fence about this one. Let me know which leaf blocks y'all plan to waterlog, since waterlogged leaves are definitely getting new non-biome-tinted textures.
  • As previously stated in a Changelog, but to be repeated here: The Dead Corals and Dead Coral Fans (NOT the Dead Coral Blocks) are PLACEHOLDER textures, and will be totally retextured and remodeled into various furniture pieces. That will take a buttload of time, though, so don't expect that any time soon.
  • Candle Cakes are also a placeholder. Those are all getting new models and textures.
  • Most if not all of the potted plants will get new models. Assuming Archeology doesn't come out anytime soon, Empty flower pots may get a myriad of fancy appearances as well.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: None of the above list has any kind of timetable attached to them! They might come with the 1.19 Update to the pack! They might come 3 Years from now! And anything in between! I will try to give advance warning for anything crazy, of course.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
