Wavelet Allegory
My life is embodied in a tiny droplet of water. My own molecules flow freely within me in the deep ocean. Schools of fish swim around me, taking me under their fins and gently guiding me to a different area of the ocean. In the dark of blue, I was never alone despite being the only droplet that could present itself. They swam by my side, until the attack.
Hunters came to capture my bustled family, the drop of their heavy nets emanated a strong wavelet. Caught in the force, I glided along the ripple helplessly towards the assailant ship, unable to resist like my silent brothers. I looked back at my family being lifted towards the surface. A part of myself segregated apart in the form of a melancholic tear.
Attached to the ship, I was carried away from the deep seas, my colony and home. Through violent storms and tides I held on lacking peace. I clung to the hope that they wipe me away and allow me to sink back into the sea. They didn't, for all they cared about was my family's yield. All their howls of command filled my ears. In this midst I couldn't hear my people's struggle anymore, and, as silently as ever before, I mourned on. This wasn't the destiny the life in the sea deserved –captured as outcasts on the mainland, treated for their disgusting desires, and malformed to feed the gluttony. All I could do in this disturbance was wait for what this destiny stood for me, a timid droplet in bitter tears.
I arrived at the ports of the mainland. I could see thousands of ships gather together and make trades. The ship clashed with the starboard pier; I managed to shake free and drip into the shore waters. I was among my brothers again, but they seemed mindless and apathetic. They moved on along a strange current, and I followed. For long periods of time, I waded to observe the mainland's colonies expanding and threatening to replace the lush green and blue with “simplistic” black and gray. Through septic inlets and within the sewers I entered my harsh lifestyle.
The beings of the land have abused my peaceful existence. They use me to clean up whatever has been left of my consumed family as well as their own waste. I've carried with me the malicious entities that harm life, making me repulse everyone, including my own people. I have acquired influences that reject me from entering the sea again. If I was no longer of use, I was treated at a facility, removing the dirty agents and injecting poisonous ones. I was clean, yet I was potent to harm my own kind without my intent. Through symmetrical paths of the land, I braved my lonely slavery, braving my isolation from the natural sea life. Even in aquariums, that life does not recognise me.
There was one fateful day, I escaped out into the day streets. The God in the sky has sent burning rays that punished me. I could not stop staring at the centre of His painful glory. I began losing sight of the streets around me—I struggled to stay composed, but the molecules began breaking free. This was the end of my abusive life. I welcomed the bright death that swept me away from my repulsive sins.
I was floating into the sky as steam, ready to join my family in the clouds. It was then I realised, my true family was everywhere around me... I was no longer alone.
Just watched an amazing animated Irish film, Song of the Sea, in which the music fitted perfectly with this contest theme. Participating in a lot of damn contests, wow...
