It's been 9 years since my last review... and things have gone really weird. I still play a ton of video games and I'll review those, but lately my focus has been on board games and role playing games. Why? I opened a brick and mortar store! The original idea was to open a board game cafe where you could play borrowed games (from our collection) and have sandwiches and coffee/tea/milkshakes. The PROBLEM was Covid. JUST as we were closing on the building we were going to open, all our financial backers stepped out. So, since we'd already sold our house, we moved north (as if being in Canada isn't "north enough..")

After a year of waiting for life to return to "normal" we decided we needed to open SOMETHING, so we opened a games store. Just like the cafe idea, we have tables to play at, and you can borrow our games. We also run several D&D games a week, along with a couple other role playing games like Vampire the Masquerade and Monster of the Week. So I've had the great pleasure of learning a bunch of new board games. To be up front about it, we don't carry mainstream games like Monopoly and Risk. (I say, having a copy of each of them.) We tend to pick up more European games like Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne and Agricola. The super thing about games like this is they have video game counterparts! Still a board game, but you can play it on Steam through Table Top Simulator.

The one thing we noticed during the lockdown was how much we missed just hanging with our friends. We tried playing D&D through Roll20, but it just isn't the same when you can't throw cheesies at your friends for making dumb moves. A LOT of people are coming back to in-person gaming, including couch co-op for video games. It seems we really missed being with people, even though a lot of us thought this was the best thing EVER. (Spoiler: It wasn't.)

I promise I will review some more video games that I enjoy (or hate) and some board games that I love (or hate.) I hope you give them a try too!
