IF YOU HATE RANTS, DO NOT READ THIS!
When I first started Pmc, there was a GREAT community, you start out as a level 1 and most EVERYONE still respected you! Heck, a level 26 (Killerhippie, now a level 30) subscribed to a level 3! (Me). Now a days, people, even higher level people steal and steal and steal other peoples skins! Literally, I have in a month time period, I have reported at LEAST 25 skins, most of them though, have been reasonably dealt with by caring moderators, so, thanks for that! But, even though (most) people are aware of these problems, not everyone cares! If you look at the skins area, yeah, you find some good skins, but other than that, you see the run of the mill skins. Most of these don't even seem to have any effort, most even have, and I quote, "I Don't Even Know" this is totally ruining the community in MANY ways. I've read that people are stopping POSTING SKINS, just because of the fear of their skins being stolen, that is INSANE! Anyone in their right mind wouldn't steal skin. I have significantly reduced skin making on my part, mainly BECAUSE someone HAS stolen one of MY skins! It felt like, well... like vinegar! Being treated and your work thrown around like nobody cares about your HARD work! This feeling stinks, and I hope many people read this blog SO that they don't feel the urge to steal others skins!
Now, onto a new problem. This is just overall lack of effort. Even in the projects section, people just play a game of Minecraft, and just upload that. Now, if its great, sure, but most (with exceptions) just take it as is, and use a 5-10 minute world and call it good. Not as bad as the skins and stealing, but still pretty bad!
Please try and get this in the popular reel, I know this is kind of like others, but I have some first-hand experience with this and HOPE that others know about this problem. I believe that this is a serious problem and really CANT be dealt by mods or any others, because you can't force effort onto someone! Its just not possible! So, please favorite and diamond if you like this and want others to see this, and if you HATED this, still please favorite and diamond, so others can see this!

The primary goal of putting something online with your name on it is basically for showing off your skills. With this you gain a reputation and a loyal following, which when at the appropriate level, can hinder the skin/texture thievery as people will instantly recognise your work (and may seek to destroy all those that attempt to take credit for it)
Now, even with the particular skins that appear to have little effort applied, well, take it from the submitters perspective. Are they a budding artist, just starting out to learn skills? Are they just a bored person chucking out a 5-10 min skin just for laughs? You won't know unless you ask them.
We all put something out for whatever reason, but the ones that stand out are the ones that go beyond the work on the skin, to rise above the sea of mediocre. Such things include promotions and advertising wherever you can. Visibility is key for any competing product in the market.
As for a story, I don't think I've seen any of my skins duplicated here, but while I was on the YouAreMinecraft server, making one of my skins in statue form, I did come across my very same skin that had been remixed. Wasn't a bad job, but you could tell the differences. I don't know who did it or where it was submitted and I was never able to get in touch with the guy that was wearing it, but I don't particularly care anyway lol
Not that I don't care for my work, I'm just a realist.
