Greetings my friends! I hope I wasn't forgotten. Yet again life has caught up with me and it has been very difficult to find time for drawing or studying Minecraft for my blogs. But I'm here for now and leaving for California in a couple hours now.
Now without further ado, here is the fifth installment in my "What's So Bad About?" series. This time I'll be covering Emeralds.
First off Emeralds were added in Update 1.3 of Minecraft. They are found only in the extreme hills biome and are found around the same areas as you would find diamonds in. However Emeralds are slightly rarer and cannot be made into tools. People don't enjoy Emeralds because they serve very little practical purposes.
Emeralds can be used as currency when trading with a villager. They are the main thing that you will exchange with them for an item. You can also buy Emeralds off of villagers with items such as fish and minerals. The player can also craft 9 Emeralds into a solid Emerald Block which can be used as a building material, a beacon component, decoration, or compact storage.
I for one enjoy Emeralds for their social value in multiplayer. A player can use them as trading items for other high value items. Also a player can place Emerald Blocks near or in their homes as a way to show wealth or as a status symbol (like a Bill's Hat in TF2).
So that's my opinion on Emeralds, now it's your turn! Post your thoughts in the comments!
Leave a diamond if you enjoyed this blog.
Thanks and have fun!
