Why use some mods?

Hey i think if people are going to make mods like dirt cheap diamonds or stuff then why not just hack whatever you need... i mean really i see mods like that all the time. I think if you are going to use any mod besides the aether mod and like the copy world button then why no just hack??? well i don't even know how to make a mod but i think some stuff is just plain stupid.
