Heavily inspired by the original Aether mod for Beta 1.7.3 back in the Golden Age of Minecraft comes the Vanilla Aether datapack! I recently started reading about datapacks and dimensions so I thought it would be interesting to see if I could (to an extent) replicate the original Aether mod from back in the day!

UPDATE:
In this new version I've completely overhauled the world generation and have temporarily removed the portal functionality until I come up with a more unique design.

There are three new biomes:
The Sky Forest
The Golden Forest
The Snowy Forest

In the future there will be a dungeon in each biomes as well as special ores in each one. Currently, there is one one dungeon, the "Bronze Dungeon" which is currently populated with Mimics and a special Boss mob! Loot also generates in chests in the dungeon but the loot tables will likely be changed in the future.

The whole world generates above y=128, allowing the islands to spawn above the cloud layer! Smaller snowy clouds spawn throughout the world as well as waterfalls cascading deep down into the skies below.

To get to the dimension enter execute this command:

/execute in ae:aether run tp 0 250 0

I'll be adding in a proper portal in the near future!

This was very much made just to get an idea of how datapacks work and how dimensions can be added. I'll be working on some more original (and less technical) packs in the future.

Hello, is it still in progress? I have an issue, Minecraft starts to not responding when the world is saving at the creating state, I can't join the world at all. I've fed minecraft 8 gbs of RAM and it still is not responding for the world with the datapack

What version of minecraft are you running it on? It only works on 1.17.1

I don't know why, but it just crashes, whenever I try to create the world? Any idea on how to fix this?
