Aquatic Tweaks is a Datapack (and maybe a "Library" ) for 1.20.5-1.21.5 that you have to config to change what to want with aquatic mecanics like respiration, water pressure, etc...
(I made this Datapack because I made a system of surface drowning for a map and I had the idea to create a seperate Datapack if anyone want, but it's not a lot necessary to make a seperate Datapack so I will not update this Datapack and I will not use Dialog system for Configs but the Datapack will work even for 1.21.6 to 1.21.8)

Do /function aquatic_tweaks:configs to open the configs menu and you can change the options like you want if you have the permission to use the command.

In configs you can :

  • choose who is affected by the Datapack between All players and Some players (Players with the tag "Aquatic_Tweaks")

  • enable/disable some parameters when a player is at the surface or underwater, like choose if players can breath underwater and can't breath at the surface, or have weakness or slowness at the surface and strength and swim more faster underwater, etc... Look at the configs in game to see all the availaible parameters.

  • enable/disable water pressure, when a player is too deep underwater he will taking Water Pressure damages (you can use the optionnal Texture Pack to see the custom death message of this damage type), but if you have Conduit Power effect or if the Underwater Drowning is disabled, you don't take Water Pressure damage

If you don't change configs by default the Datapack don't do anything, like in vanilla, this Datapack is made for someones who wants to play for fun by changing some settings to change their gameplay, or for Map-makers that want to make for example an system to be a fish by activating the Surface Drowning and prevent the Underwater Drowning, or for Datapack-makers to use this Datapack as a library.

Information about using the Library for your Datapack
You have you force to activate some configs that you want for your Datapack by setting some scores to a value to enable or disable what options you want for the Datapack.

But if multiple Datapacks uses this library, some Datapacks that are used in a same world can't works that as they should be want, so I advise you to use this library for maps directly, or just to use the water pressure system, which has no customization parameters, and because it uses damage types and if multiple Datapacks wants to use the water pressure, it's better that they use the same Datapack (this library) for the water pression system to prevent multiple damages from water pressure by multiple Datapacks.

But if you want, you can take some code of the library for other systems than the water pressure for your Datapack, or, you can take the Library Datapack and customise it as you want for your Datapack.

As for the water pressure system, you can also implement it directly in your Datapack, but if this library is used directly as a separate Datapack in a same world, you should have to remove one of the two water pressure systems to avoid duplicating them if the two water pressure system works as the same...

But anyway, this "library" is mainly designed to be used as an individual Datapack for a map, not really as a library, but instead of using it as a library it's better to just take some code from the "library" for your Datapack.

You can use the optionnal Texture Pack to see the custom death message of the Water Pressure damage type.

Update #1 : by Loupieur 05/01/2025 6:08:34 amMay 1, 2025 @ 10:08 am UTC

Problems solved :
  • The Water Pressure damage type doesn't do knockback anymore and can break Armor Stands
  • We don't take Water Pressure damages anymore if the Underwater Drowning is disabled instead of when it's enabled
