This data pack provides a new way to make level 1 enchanted books of the enchantment you choose. To create an enchanted book;
  1. Rename a Book (using an anvil) to have the same name as the enchantment you want (e.g. "Respiration", "Sharpness", "Mending", etc.), but note that only level 1 enchantments can be made (do not include the level notation in the naming of the book),
  2. If you've named the Book correctly, it will be converted into an Enchanted Book containing the same Enchantment for which the Book was named.
By default, treasure enchantments (Mending, and all Curses) can't be obtained using this method.
If you'd like to change that, you can find the config file within the data pack's .zip file at "data/cho_chant/functions/config.mcfunction".

If you're having trouble renaming books, check the official Minecraft Wiki page about Enchantmentsto make sure you're spelling them exactly as they should be. This data pack is case sensitive when it comes to detecting names, so make sure what you've written is exactly the same as the Enchantment names listed on the wiki. Also note that, as of publishing, this data pack only supports the English names for the Enchantments (if you'd like to provide me with text for the Enchantment names in another language, so this data pack can support that language, please contact me).

More information about data packs and how to use them can be found on the official Minecraft Wiki.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! Multiplayer isn't a problem for this data pack, as it's designed for it. Did you make sure the line in the config that you changed from zero to one started with the word "scoreboard"?

sorry for the super late response i dont use this site very often

but the problem was that i was dumb and edited the pack for my single player instead of server

after figuring that out the pack has worked without issue

I tried to create a mending enchantment book. but it does not work.
I have tried mending and Mending and neither produce an enchanted book.

I read the description and I changed the value from 0 to 1 in the config.mcfunction and it still won't work.

Have you reloaded the server/restarted the single player world you're using it on? Also, was the zero you changed to a one at the end of a line that starts with the word "scoreboard"?

Here is what the config file looks like after I made the change:

# should treasure enchantments be allowed to be created by players using this data pack (0 = false, 1 = true) [Default = 0]
scoreboard players set #treasure cho_chant.dummy 1

I am on a multi player server and everything in your datapack is working except for this.

and yes, I have restarted/reloaded the server/world several times :)

Please make sure the data pack zip file is in your <world>/datapacks folder, and that you've spelt the names of the enchantments you want correctly (they are case-sensitive), and that the names you've given the books do not include the level of the enchantment you desire (as the data pack only does level 1 enchantments).

How do you specify a level, such as looting III?

You can't, and that is by design. I don't want this method to be completely superior to the default enchanting method, or villager trading for enchanted books.

I already find it superior to using hte table since it eliminates the randomness that comes with the table and therefore saves time and resources. All you need to do is combine the books unsing hte anvil afterward to get them to high lvl. I also use another datapack that allows me to reset the cost of combining/repairing items on anvil when I drop the item so I do not get the too expensive message when trying to make my item.

I'm glad you like it! I have a similar data pack regarding the repair cost, called Anvil Mending, but mine works in your inventory automatically, without you having to do anything to activate it, you might like it, too.
