Like what I do? You can support me on Ko-fi!
(This has never happened before, but) If, somehow, you die and your stuff is gone, do not delete the death from your history. Your inventory is still saved in your death history! You can send me a message, and I will help you recover your stuff. (I might take a while to respond, but I will help you.)
Please let me know if you encounter any bugs while playing. I will do my best to fix them ASAP.
Unfortunately, due to countless breaking changes in recent Minecraft versions, I do not currently have plans to update this pack. There is an experimental 1.20 version available in the comments, but it is not tested/finalized.
Upon death, the time and location (and dimension) are recorded, and can be viewed at any time from the Deathpoint menu. You can pin/unpin, delete, and highlight any of your deaths in the menu. Highlighting a death will point you in the direction of your death and show a glowing effect on the block for a few seconds. (Highlighting only works properly if you're in the same dimension as the death.)
To open the Deathpoint menu at any time, use the command "/trigger deathpoint" or if that doesn't work, "/trigger deathpoint set 1". From here, you can set preferences, view or edit deaths, and a bit more. (You do not need to be opped to use /trigger, so any player can use it.)
If you have over 100 deaths in your death history, the oldest death will be deleted unless it's pinned.
Note: The experimental 1.20 version includes a setting for this.
If you're using server plugins, Keep Inventory might be set per-dimension. Make sure keepInventory is true in every dimension.
Features
- Stores your items and XP when you die
- Full death history with coordinates and more
- Highlight a death to show where you died
- 100% multiplayer compatible! Can handle any number of players
Important Notes
This pack turns Keep Inventory on when it loads in order to work. Do not disable keep inventory, and do not enable immediate respawn. If keepInventory is false, your items will just drop on the ground. If doImmediateRespawn is true, the pack cannot detect when you die; you'll just keep your stuff.(This has never happened before, but) If, somehow, you die and your stuff is gone, do not delete the death from your history. Updating the Pack
To update the data pack, delete the old version from the world and replace it with the new one, then run "/reload". The pack will update automatically.Unfortunately, due to countless breaking changes in recent Minecraft versions, I do not currently have plans to update this pack. There is an experimental 1.20 version available in the comments, but it is not tested/finalized.
How It Works
When you die with items and/or XP, one or two barrels containing your items and XP are placed in the nearest unoccupied block. The XP stored in the death barrel is the same as the amount you would drop if you died normally.Upon death, the time and location (and dimension) are recorded, and can be viewed at any time from the Deathpoint menu. You can pin/unpin, delete, and highlight any of your deaths in the menu. Highlighting a death will point you in the direction of your death and show a glowing effect on the block for a few seconds. (Highlighting only works properly if you're in the same dimension as the death.)

If you have over 100 deaths in your death history, the oldest death will be deleted unless it's pinned.
FAQ | Frequently Asked Questions
Can other players steal from your death barrel?
Yes. There isn't anything preventing a player from opening/breaking another player's death barrel.Note: The experimental 1.20 version includes a setting for this.
Is there a way to get all of your levels back when you die?
Not at the moment. The experimental 1.20 version includes a setting to disable the vanilla 100 XP (about 7½ levels) drop cap, but it is still less than what you die with.Common Issues
When I die, all of my items drop, and only the XP is stored in the barrel.
Keep Inventory is disabled. It needs to be enabled. Run the command "/gamerule keepInventory true" to fix it.If you're using server plugins, Keep Inventory might be set per-dimension. Make sure keepInventory is true in every dimension.
It doesn't create a barrel when I die, and I keep all of my items.
You probably have Do Immediate Respawn enabled. It needs to be disabled. The pack cannot detect deaths when doImmediateRespawn is set to true. Run the command "/gamerule doImmediateRespawn false" to fix it.Compatibility | Minecraft 1.18 |

Removed the "Installed Data Packs" advancements, because other packs stopped using that system.

The current version should still work up to 1.20.2, although I have not tested it. I started working on a redesign of the pack for 1.20, which uses newer features to make it better and more efficient.
The 1.20 version isn't entirely tested/finalized. If you'd like, you could help me a lot by trying it and telling me if you find any issues or have any suggestions. For now, you can download the experimental 1.20.4 version here.
You must collect all deaths barrels and delete all deaths from your history before updating the pack.
Note: Neither version currently works in the latest snapshots, or 1.20.5.
Update: I took a look at the data pack, and the code is a bit convoluted and confusing. I could probably get it to work, but it would be janky, and more effort than it's worth. Sorry.
for some reason, i cant access item in second inventory page through the barrel but when i break it, it drop item in both inventory page
