Chainmail armor as uncraftable item does not provide more protection than the iron armor, which can be obtained more easily. It seems Chainmail armor is a bit useless in the game so I give them a buff in this data pack.
In this data pack, chainmail armor can evolve on breaking it, from chainmail, to iron, diamond and finally netherite.
To activate the evolving ability, throw the chainmail armor on the ground and pick it back.
Once success, you can see a lore "Evolve on Breaking" under the armor name.
As a reward of finishing the evolution, the netherite armor will be unbreakable.
VERY IMPORTANT: the nbt tag of the old armor will be removed when evolving.
i.e. All the name and enchantments will be removed when the armor upgrades.
Please pay attention to this and enchant as you wish after it evolves to netherite.
