Enchant shears with fortune at an anvil using a book to get more drops from shearing mobs. This works for sheep of all colors, red and brown mooshrooms as well as bogged. On top of that, it also lets you get more honeycomb per beehive harvest (only in 1.21.9 and up). This also works for shears in dispensers, allowing sheep and honeycomb farms to become even more efficient!

This data pack doesn't affect wool drops from killing sheep with fortune, only from shearing them.


Here's an overview of how much fortune affects drops (using fortune III) :
  • Sheep drop 2-6 wool and rarely a bit more, compared to the usual 1-3
  • Mooshrooms drop 10-15 mushrooms, compared to the usual 5
  • Bogged drop up to 6 mushrooms, compared to the usual 2 (these can be both red and brown mushrooms)
  • Beehives/bee nests yield 3-6 honeycomb, compared to the usual 3 (only on 1.21.9 and above, since previous versions have beehive loot tables hardcoded into the game)

This data pack is for 1.21.2 onwards and will not work in previous versions

Updated to 1.21.9, adding beehives/bee nests to the list of things that fortune is efficient with!
  • Shearing beehives/bee nests with fortune now makes them drop more honeycomb
  • Shearing sheep with fortune shears has been very slightly nerfed

That's weird, are you in version 1.21.2 or above? Did you install the data pack correctly? (do /datapack enable to see if you can enable it there). Also, you can't enchant shears at the enchantment table, you have to do it with a book at an anvil.
