Originally made to complement the resourcepack Visual Enchantments, magician advancements is a datapack that rewards the player gameplay-wise, unlocking small new mechanics that benefit the survival experience.
[Current features]
The tab is split in three basic cathegories:
Enchantments
Keeps track of all the enchantments the player has obtained, wether enchanting items or finding them in books. Completing this advancements won't show up in the chat.
Completionist branch
This section challenges the player to obtain items at their max potential and rewards them by unlocking new "quality of life" mechanics. Completing this advancements will show up in chat.
Added mechanics:
- Illager Sympathiser: Any bad omen effect applied to you will reduce his duration time from the usual hour to 5 minutes.
- Sticky Business: Drinking honey will remove all equipped armor pieces cursed with binding, giving them back to you as an item. Doing so in locations where entities might take damage could kill the items.
- Bow Artisan: While having Slow Falling applied, arrows shot on a radius of 2 blocks from you won't be affected by gravity. Spectral arrows will still get affected. Arrows will poof out of existence if they don't hit a block in 10 seconds after being shot.
- Trident Master: Holding an item in your hand/offhand while swimming will grant you dolphin's grace.
- King of the Sky: Holding a totem in negative Y values will trigger the totem, killing and giving you levitation to barely reach the height of an end island's shore. Sometimes it might not reach a natural safe place, so building one while floating is highly recommended.
- AFK Fisher: Holding a rabbit's foot on your hand/offhand will give you Luck I. The effect will aid you on fishing, where you'll be more likely to catch better loot.
- Transmutation: Holding an xp bottle while shifting will deplenish your xp bar and summoning it on your place as xp orbs. The deplenishment per tick as well as the value of the xp orbs will be of 7 xp points.
- Cucurbitacea: Holding a carved pumpkin on your hand/offhand as well as wearing it will grant you invisibility.
- Master Swordsman: Being hurt by fire will now grant you strength. Having Fire Resistance applied won't let the fire damage you, so you won't be granted strength.
- Wrath of the Lumberjack: Damaging tools will now give you 1 xp point. The max rate is 1 xp per second. This applies with axes, pickaxes, shovels, hoes, shears, fishing rods, flint and steel, carrot on a stick and warped fungus on a stick.
- Turtle Up: Swimming on generated aquatic structures will grant you water breathing. Structures where you will receive the effect are monuments, shipwrecks, ocean ruins and strongholds.
- Evanescence: Any Wither II effect on you will immediately be replaced by 10 seconds of Wither I.

Not being part of any specific branch, those single advancements attached to the root are granted by obtaining certain items related to the enchanting mechanic, like bookshelves or grindstones.
