Here's a little showcase of my current datapack set for a challenge.

I've replaced most of the biomes in the normal spawning setup with various hot lands, largely eroded badlands, to create a barren world. But I didn't want it to get too boring, so the frozen biomes are now nether biomes and part of the desert biomes are now end. With no grass biomes, you'll have to go raiding an exposed lush cave or maybe a rare desert village could have one - or find it in an ancient city's hidden room.

Don't get discouraged. This is where I've been working on a landmarks mod. I've got ocean monuments, ancient cities, jungle shrines, desert pyramids, witch huts, pillager outposts, igloos, shipwrecks, ocean ruins, trial chambers, trail ruins, and fossils spawning all over for you to trip over and explore. Most of them are the exact structure, but I couldn't get Minecraft's monument to spawn outside of water, so I coded one. It's not perfect, but there's reason to explore it.

In the screenshots, you can see a selection of landmarks on this red, dead world. See what you can do with it. As always, feedback is welcome.

-- TECHNICAL INFORMATION ---

While this pack was made with the current version of Minecraft, it should be compatible as far back as you can use datapacks with one caveat:

You will have to rename the 'structure' nbt folder found in scmsizes to 'structures' in older versions.

This pack overrides a fair bit of the basic world generation, and will conflict with a number of mods that change how the terrain generates. As a quirk of how I got the basalt deltas and eroded badlands to spawn, it may generate those terrain options on top of any structures added to these biomes, potentially burying them and/or burning them down. Even a few of the structures I'm generating might burn down - you take your chances!

  Have something to say?

im pretty sure u can just copy "structure" and rename copy to "structures", so it works on older versions without manual changing

You know, I never really thought about just leaving a duplicate folder in. I'm going to blame old-fashioned education in computer programming insisting that redundant files are bad.

From some of the annoyances I had around the transition between singular and plural, I'd bet you're right. Thanks for the idea, and I'll look at implementing it soon.
