That's right, pocket dimensions! By making a simple riftway in your minecraft world, you can gain access to your very own inter-dimensional space to build or store whatever you'd like!

Update Notes

Release 4
- Upon a server restart/exiting the world, riftways should now be persistent and still function properly.
- Making riftways has changed! You now need an ender pearl and a diamond, instead of a nether star and ender eye.
- Pocket Dimensions can be upgraded! You start out with an 8x8x8 area; throwing in an ender eye upgrades it to a 16x16x16 area, and a nether star upgrades it to full size! Existing pocket dimensions are considered full-size still :)
- Pocket dimensions now have visible corners to give a slight sense of the room you're working with without feeling too enclosed!

- Added an "uninstall" function! /function pocket_dimensions:_uninstall, to uninstall the datapack. Then you can safely remove the file from the datapacks folder. Everyone in the world will be teleported to the center, including from the end! This is to make sure no one gets stuck in their pocket dimensions, because that would be bad!
(I'll be adding gif tutorials soon, I'm currently having software issues at the moment!)

Setup
Thanks to resistance_is_futile, everything should set up automatically when you install the datapack! Just remember to type /reload if it doesn't set up the first time.

Riftways
After setting up the datapack, you'll need to create a riftway to enter your pocket dimension. To do so, you'll need a few materials; one chiseled quartz block, a diamond, and the key ingredient: an ender pearl!

To build a riftway, first place down your chiseled quartz block, then throw your ender pearl and diamond on top. In a split second, a rift between dimensions should appear right before your eyes! After that, all you need to do is walk in and wait a few seconds, and you'll be taken to your very own pocket dimension!

To exit your pocket dimension, just walk into the riftway in your pocket dimension, and you'll be taken back to the riftway you entered in the overworld!

Final Notes
This datapack has been designed to be multiplayer-compatible; each player should have access to their own pocket dimension, similar to how each player has access to their own Ender Chest inventory.

Also, if you like this datapack, give it a diamond and subscribe to be updated when I upload more datapacks :)

Is this server-friendly? Is the pocket dimension in The End? This datapack answers some of our server "home" issues where building and world wipes are concerned, but if it's in The End and not multiplayer friendly, then we can't use it.

Amazing idea, I hope to hear from you.

Great datapack, but in one of my worlds it doesn't work. that world has a car datapack and a dynamite datapack, along with a gear datapack, and a hiding datapack. the riftway works perfectly, i just can't join the dimension

For now, you could just have larger areas within one new void dimension, that would also fix the issue of players being able to use chorus fruit teleportation and break into other's dimensions

I love this feature.
Which line of code sets the spawn location for the pocket? I ask because I'd like to configure it to be a bit further from origin, since it is very visible from the main island.
I suppose I could just build around it to make it look better, but I kinda like the idea of it seeming to exist nowhere.
Also, as mentioned by Sir Flareon below, it clears your XP when you travel.

The XP resetting appears to be a bit of a glitch on the game's part, I noticed this in my testing. Gaining one or two experience orbs seems to correct it, at this time I'm hoping that this bug gets fixed on minecraft's end soon.

I'll see if I can add a configuration option soon, currently it's set to spawn 16 chunks away from the center of the end

So why does going through the rift to the overworld put the player at 0 256 0? It's not the worst thing but it's really inconvenient.

When the system can't find the rift you made in the overworld, it'll put you in the world origin instead of keeping you locked in your own dimension

Now that I have a bit more experience, perhaps in the next few updates I'll modify it so that the fallback takes you to your current spawnpoint instead. If I can find a way of doing that, but we'll see.

We'll see when 1.16 releases, there's a lot subject to change at this point. In addition, currently, custom dimensions require external world editing rather than commands as of now. If we get commands to create custom dimensions by 1.16's full release, oh boy, there'll be some changes :)

Hey so first of all, great mod (or datapack). I literally made an account just to say this. I'm super impressed and ngl the polish on it makes it look less like a datapack and more like how I expect 1.17 to look. If I could change one tiny thing though, it would be adding the option to have the rift be connected to just one pocket realm, that way other people can go in it too. But like I said, this is a really cool data pack and I cant wait to see what you do with it

so for some reason, I can't seem to get it working in my one word any more iv tried everything clearing player data removing all other plugins and running it by itself from what I know about data packs is It possible that there is a player score stuck on me somehow from a conflict with another data back and if there is how would I go about fixing that. I think the conflict is with the Warp Book Data pack since that one seemed to malfunction when I installed this one. i really appreciate any help given :D

Ah, interesting; the first incompatibility I've heard of! Thank you for sharing,

First, to look at scoreboards, you can enter /scoreboard objectives list , and that will give you a list of all scoreboards. In my other datapack I've made an _uninstall function that allows you to remove all associated scoreboards with that particular datapack (now that I'm thinking about it, I should name my objectives differently to avoid conflicts, as you are correct, that is the most likely culprit). I recommend making a new world, and start loading in datapacks one at a time until something breaks. I hope you've made backups of your original world!

That said, I am giving Pocket Dimensions some TLC, and I'll be rolling out an update within the next few days or so to fix some incompatibilities (maybe) and to optimize it the way I fixed my Warp Sigils (which you should totally check out if you were using Warp Books, my datapacks play very nicely with one another :3).

Oh and to answer your other comment, I might try something like that. Another user suggested the ability to upgrade your pocket dimension over time, so I may actually remove the need for a nether star and go for some different ingredients. We'll see! Thank you for the suggestion!

Hey, I just made an account to tell you how much I appreciate this data pack. I am planning to use it to make a playthrough where I don't need a house and I can roam and explore more is there any way you could make a lite version where you only need a Diamond and an ender pearl to get to the rift so it is less end game? I tried to do it my self and I ended up breaking it completely in my one world

Your datapack works great

I was myself looking for a similar way to save blocks somewere like you did for your pocket dimensions
using the empty region of the end is ingenious

Mind if I reuse Your datapack for creating something completely different ?

Thanks! Utilizing the end is actually pretty straightforward; the /execute command allows you to execute within different dimensions; what I first do is forceload the 0 0 chunk in the end, then I can create an area effect entity within it. Since the chunk is now loaded, I can load other chunks and teleport entities around to perform what I need to!

Of course! All I ask is for a tiny bit of credit of "Hey I found this datapack and it inspired me to make this". So go nuts! I'm curious to see what you create :)

Hey.

I love your mod, and I have a suggestion: A way to increase the pocket dimension size.

I was gonna suggest using a nether star for it, but then I realized that a nether star was used in the recipe.

So, how about putting a beacon in the PD increases the size of it?

A level 1 beacon with a base of iron blocks would only give 5 extra blocks in all directions, while a level 4 emerald beacon would give 100 in all directions?

Not sure I'll go the beacon approach, but certainly something to increase the size of the pocket dimension would be pretty neat :) thanks for the suggestion!

I like this Pack. No, I love it.
But a problem occured.
I teleported from the overworld into the Dimension but when I tried to return it did not work. Particles do appear but no teleportation.
I tried some more times:
overworld to end: working
end to overworld: not working.

Maybe you can fix it, so i can keep using it <3.
Keep up the great work.

I'll get on that right away!

That's weird though; it simply refuses to teleport you from the end to the overworld? Not even with a message saying that your overworld portal was missing? Are you using mods? Are you in a multiplayer setting? Are you using other datapacks?

No message, no mods, but I am playing with some more people on a realm and we are using some other datapacks. Nothing went wrong for a few days, but when i tried to teleport into the dimension from the PocketPortal once, my Minecraft stopped responding. So I restartet and after I logged in I was in the end but the portal back did not work. There were the purple particles covering me and I heard the standard warp sound but nothing happened.

Btw I hope you are happy to hear, that every player is able to go to his own PocketDimension without trouble. The only thing I haven´t testet yet is whether it is possible for more players to teleport to their dimension at the same time.

I'm at least glad to hear that it is multiplayer compatible! <yes>

However, as I delve into the issue more, there doesn't seem to be much that I could fix on my end without knowing more about the other datapacks you're using, or seeing a video of you walking into the dimension's portal and seeing that you won't teleport.

While you're in the teleporter, if you have access to commands, try /tag @s list, and let me know what tags appear. This might help hone down the issue.

As a simple suggestion, try walking out of the portal and back in. that should be resetting the timer and other tags I've set up, but if it doesn't, that's something I need to look into. All of my current testing with the datapack yields no similar issues, so I'm wondering if it's a datapack conflict or something else entirely.

good job i like it, I thought about some things and figured out where the pocket is(The End), good stuff here are some suggestions though

suggestions:
1. move the pocket further from the end island or make an actual new dimension and put it in there.
2. make it where if you destroy the chiseled quartz block after you make the portal, you can place it down somewhere else and go through.
3. make it so you can sleep in your pocket place.
4.move it out of render distance then only use barrier blocks so everything is actually black, for cooler affect.
5.stop endermen from spawning inside the dimension.

I would love to see these things in the datapack! hopefully this datapack gets popular and a lot of support!
