This datapack bring the popular multiplayer game, TF2, into Minecraft!

With 9 different classes, you and your team aim to complete the objective before your rival team. In the classic Red VS Blu format, create your own maps or convert other maps into a TF2 format!

    Features:
    • Class selection, each with their own abilities and weapons that function very similarly to the original game
    • Map making mode, allowing you to convert any other map to work in this format.
    • Multiple Game modes, allowing you to, (with some prep work) play in exciting new ways.
    • A Resource Pack, with cool custom models for everything, giving a even closer experience to TF2. The pack is not necessary, and there is a toggle for it ingame, but if everyone has the pack, it looks awesome!

    Important things to note:
When first entering a world, any operators or hosts need to become an Operator by either giving yourself the tag "becomeop" or by renaming a Structure Void "Operator Badge". This will give you access to the mapmaking mode, as well as other important things like Starting and Ending the match. Make sure you use a Structure Void item, not a Structure Block item.
Make sure to do "/reload" whenever a new player joins the world, as this command will give them all the necessary data allowing them to play.
It may be smart to lower the Enchantment Glint Strength in your settings, since most weapons have enchantments on them in order to make them more balanced.

Other things, like parity issues and controls:

Read this if you have simple questions or want to know about parity differences and "solutions".
    • Each class has accurate movement speeds compared to TF2. The scout is the fastest by a lot, and the heavy is very slow. I am very proud of my math to get this accurate, so I hope it feels good.
    • In TF2, when you crouch mid-air, your hitbox shrinks upwards, allowing you to effectively jump higher. But because Minecraft doesn't work this way, sneaking before jumping replaces this, allowing you to jump higher if you sneak before jumping.
    • Because there is no way (that I am aware of at least) to designate specific entities as placed by players, Engineers and Demomen are much more powerful, being able to spawn in effectively infinite buildings and stickies. Luckily buildings and sticky traps are objectively weaker in Minecraft as there is no real way to buff them. This has been (mostly, the Demo can still place infinite stickies) fixed in the update!
    • While not said in-game, putting primaries and secondaries into your offhand is the way to reload them. It does it automatically if you run out, but if you don't want to wait, make sure to do it often.
    • The Demoman's stickybombs also explode when putting the stickybomb launcher into your offhand, so be careful when attempting to reload as him.
    • While also not openly said, the Pyro does have an Airblast. This can also be activated by putting it into your offhand. Annoyingly however, there is no good way to stop players from being on fire without just waiting, so Airblasting (as well as throwing Jarate) just gives fire-resistance for a couple seconds to replace this issue.
    • While in original TF2, the Demo's grenades would bounce around for a couple seconds, and then explode. This is not currently possible in Minecraft. So instead the grenades will fly forwards like a normal bullet, and when they find a enemy nearby, will explode, dealing damage and knocking any hostiles back.
    • The Scout still his iconic double jump, activate it by sneaking mid-air, or by reloading (putting your primary/secondary into your offhand). You can only do it once, and annoyingly the detection code will require you to move around before allowing you to do it again. So trying to do it multiple times in a row without moving will not work out. You almost never notice this though, since you are usually moving around.
    • The Engineer can still make buildings by selecting his PDA, putting it into his offhand until he selects his desired build, and right clicking! bringing him to the actual build phase, where he can now place his building where ever he wants. If it does not place, that probably means you are either out of metal, or are trying to place it in a spot that won't work. The Selection Phase has been removed!
    • Swimming is "disabled" in this Datapack (it slows you down to the point of walking) since it is quite powerful being able to shrink your hitbox to a 1x1 to dodge attacks. Running isn't removed since it is most of the time slower than just walking (Minecraft has air resistance) and is also a key feature of Minecraft, so it would feel wrong not allowing it.

    Roadmap:
    - Finishing the Resource Pack. This will also be something I consistently update as I add new weapons. Sadly the Resource Pack has been a bit forgotten in this update. I will try to prioritize it in the next updates though!
    - The next couple of updates will be adding the non-stock weapons, prioritizing recommendations from my Reddit post I sent a while ago.
    - The last potential update or somewhere along the line I will add the other game modes.
    - Somewhere along the way I want to improve the buildings the Engineer can make. None of the buildings can be upgraded, and I want to add that vital feature back in.

If you post anything related to this project, I'd love to see it. Please tag me or comment the link to the post so I can see it.

If there are any questions you have, potential ways to fix or improve current code, things that feel odd or wrong, or bugs you'd like to report, please comment them below. I want to make this the best TF2 datapack there is!

    2 Update Logs

    Update 1.1: Ahhh! Hotfix! + Update 1.2: Teleporter Hotfix : by Avegelion 09/23/2025 9:46:11 amSeptember 23, 2025 @ 1:46 pm UTC

OOPS! Turns out I forgot to test things out before releasing the update, and 2 big issues were able to sneak into the update.

    Fixes:
    - Stickybomb Debug Text is removed. I accidently forgot to remove the debug text I implemented while creating the upgrade to the Stickybombs. Now it is gone.
    - Buildings can now be built. When coding in a specific feature, I forgot to fix a single number, and it resulted in buildings being unable to spawn. You should now be able to spawn buildings!

I apologize to anyone who downloaded the Datapack before I could fix these issues. Oops!

    Hotfix 1.2:
I also forgot to test out the new teleporter code. Oops! I am extremely sorry for the double hotfixes. I can at least return the favour by saying that the next update is going better than expected, and will include another 3 weapons (as long as they work properly) and may be done by the month! I was WAY too optimistic, and it will take longer than expected. Sorry...

After spawning in (by selecting your team in the world spawn), and then clicking the Start Game item in your inventory (you will need to be an Operator, you can get this by having the Operator Badge inside the barrel in the world spawn in your inventory.) , you should have 9 items in your inventory. Make sure not to have Mapmode on! If it is on, disable it by activating the Mapmode toggle item again.

You should see 9 class-swap items, each with their descriptions. Click, shift click, or throw (by pressing q) the chosen class, and you will quickly die and respawn in the spawn point.

To get the class items, walk through a spawn door or press one of the pressure plates in front of the resupply cabinets. This will give you all your items.

    Hope this helps!

In order to download Datapacks into a world, you can easily search it up on Google or use Planet's Minecraft's help near the download button.

To make a world work, make sure the world is in 1.21.8, you can see the version in the launcher or in the title screen. It will not work if you are not in that version.

To start a match, you need to first give yourself the Operator Badge Item. I explained it above, but basically, just rename the Structure Void Item (You can find this in the Operator Items Tab in the creative menu, which you can enable by going into the control settings and looking for the toggle), Make sure to rename it "Operator Badge". This is so that I can easily know who is an operator.
Once you have the renamed item, just put it into your inventory, and you should get all the items needed to start a match. I recommend using a map made by someone since you will need to run the function "tf2:spawn" in order to "spawn in".

If this is overwhelming, or you just don't want to do any of this, you can also just download the premade map I published, which has everything you need in order to play. Including the Operator Badge inside the world spawn. I do realize how flawed most of my coding work is, and I am sorry you have to go through all this just to play, but I hope this helps!

Also, I will fix it immediately, but I actually made a massive mistake when making this page, I said that you need a Structure Block, not the Structure Void. I am very sorry to anyone who got confused and may not have been able to play. Oops!

Oh-ho, this is awesome. Shame I don’t have any friends on Minecraft to play it with.

I should finish my set of TF2 character skins so that people who download one for the purpose of this pack can have the whole set.

    Thanks!

lol yeah, I have Minecraft-playing friends but I don’t have any way of connecting with them on the game (and if I did it’d be for Bedrock, and datapacks are Java exclusives)
