Finish a skin - weeklylocal_bar
Finish a skin - a weekly initiative.
Introduction
The essence of this challenge/event is that each week I will provide a design - these will usually be simpler, but as time go on, more complex stuff will be added. You are to finish this design into a proper skin. This is a good challenge if you're craving some skinning, but short on ideas. Two designs will be provided: One partly shaded, and one with little to no shading. This gives you the option to try finishing a started file, or just working on the design.

Week 1
Mage-like design
The design for this week comes from myself, and will be a very simple design, as this is early on. If you're interested in more detailed designs, that will be where this is taken in the future.
This design is notably simple, but features an interesting play on colours and lightsource, that might be fun to work with. Due to only the face being shaded, you're left much option to work with. This can both be a help and a hindrance!
Hopefully next week I release one where more is done (x.
Good luck!

Week 2
Mask
Inititally, I was going to go for an arm as the body part of choice, but then I had this wonderful mask that I got stuck on, that I think you should all have the pressure of battling with!
This mask includes similar colours to last week, but will hopefully provoke a completely different array of skins. I also think you can manage more designs for this than last week.
I highlighly encourage trying to add colours of your own too! What's available this week is quite limiting!

Week 3
Space
This week is the arm week! I've decided to spice things up, going for the outside of the arm, with some pretty simple hat layering and design. I hope this provides options for everyone. Few less colours this time: Also to encourage you trying more colours out!
Here is the skin file, enjoy

Week 4
Double trouble: Dragon and Elven
Thank you for an incredible week 3! I've been so impressed with your entries, and I am glad to see the adjustments I've been making to my design approach has paid off. This week is the 4th week, which marks the closest thing to the first month I've been running this event for, and therefore, I have something special in store for you!First we have a design prepared by myself. This one is higher saturation than usual, less intense shading and has design elements prepared from two parts (first time that has happened (;) Last week, many people said that their style just didn't quite fit with the designs I've put out, which is why, this week, I've simplified the style a tad. I hope to hear your thoughts on this!
And here of course is the skin file:
BUT This is not all for this week. I asked the wonderful elfie_ to join me with a design this week, making this the first double submission of this weekly. Elven has provided you with a mushroom inspired base, which I think you will find great succes with, if you give it a shot! Huge shoutout to her, I hope to feature more skinners in the future.
And of course the design file:
Have fun! (I will make a banner tomorrow, when I have more time available I promise :P)

Week 5
Double trouble Bureine and Drago
Thank you all very much for week 4. I noticed a lot of pollactivity, and hope that will translate to participants somewhere down the line. On-skin lightsource won the poll handily with 81 votes: This means that next week I will be doing an on skin lightsource finish a skin entry. For week 5, I'll keep it a bit simpler: We have another double entry. A design by myself and one from Bureine:
My design:
For week 5, I wanted to experiment with the format, and in the sense that I wanted to see how scattered elements would pan out with you, the participants. The skin file looks like this:
As you can see, elements aren't entirely connected: This should result in a creative "connect the dots" game. Something that I hope you will like (as it'd be great to be able to use it later :P)
Skin file is of course:
Bureine designed the following:
As you can see, it's an arm design using green and dusty colours, recommended model for this is Alex!
The skin file is:
Good luck!

Week 6
On skin lightsource + knight
As promised from last week, I've gone all out this week with the on skin lightsource skin:
Here is the skin file:
Because I find this to be quite the challenge, I've had Terminant produce a more accesible option that more skinners can do well at:

Week 7
Frog
With week 6 behind us, I noticed a drastic drop in interest, both in regards to the poll question, and in regards to the amount of entries. This might be a sign that this session of the weekly is failing and will slowly move out of fashion, maybe it's time to let it go? I really hope this week performs better.
Regardless. Here is an old skin of mine:
This week's design uses the side of the head as its base, and from there you are to finish the skin!

Week 8
Sad mask
Man, week 7 was a huge flop aha: 2 entries in total q: I am happy to keep this going for a little while longer, but 2 entries per week might be a bit below the amount where I am going to sustain the thread for too long. Nevertheless: I present week 8's design. This one is an old WIP I made for a sad smiley face:
It houses a mask design, with a frown based on the hat layer (if you don't like the hat layering, you can delete it and you'll still have a pretty good design!)
Here is the skin file:
Have a good week! (:

Week 9:
4 colours
So for a while I've considered how one could solve the issue of: How does one conform to my style. And here is a potential solution... I present a 4 colour arm! This arm will allow most to identify the patterns I've used - if you want you can make it a 4 colour skin, and if that's not up your alley, adding more colours should be an easy solution. Preview is as follows:
And of course, a skin file:
Have a good week, best of luck! (schedule will be from saturday to saturday from now on!)

Week 10
I honestly cannot believe this has been going for 10 weeks, thank you everyone who participated. For this week you will get an old WIP:
Here is the skin file. Have fun!
Good luck!

This was pretty fun to do! I'd like to see more people participate in your challenge. I like seeing what people come up with based on their own experience and tastes.

I hope to continue doing this for a while! I love the idea! Here's one!

Isn't this a more complicated reshading contest?
5
Depending on how you define a reshade contest: Maybe. As I see it: Definitely not.
A reshade contest you are provided a complete design (with base colours that you are allowed to change), you can also change the design slightly - overall the basic layout of the skin is provided without colours or shading you can engage with.
This ultimately does not provide an entire design. It provides a snippet of a skin, perhaps a work in progress deal. This lets you interpret that part and design the rest yourself. The part allows you to pick existing colours and shading from what I've done, or add onto that with your own means, this provides a wildly different experience to a reshade contest, in the sense that it's much less given how your final layout turns out.

fam what’s there to reshade?

This seems like a fun idea! I don't think I'll have time for this one, but hopefully I'll be able to enter some later ones.
2
could u send the palette u used for the face?
3
Unfortunately, the amount of effort it'd take me to get the isolated palette for that is as long as it'd take you to colour pick the colours off the image, which is what I encourage you to do

Week 2 has been released!

I'm a week late for this event :(
Can I still join?
Can I still join?
3
you can finish the design from any week at any time! (: I will of course encourage trying the most recent one.

I have never done something like this before, my shading style is completely different, but I will try.

ay ay ay ay ay week three ay come on boyssss

Week 3 has been released: With this comes an important landmark, as this is the first one not based around the face. I've tried a simpler design this week, and I hope you're willing to give it a go. Last week saw a decrease in entries, and far more people voted in my poll than ever entered. Please tell me why you did not enter, so I can try to accomodate your wishes for this event (:

Don't worry, I don't think it's that much of a challenge ^^. If you're worried about the time it takes, I completely understand. I think you should give it a go, however, just to test the waters.
3
i might just have to give it a shot >.<
5
Got too caught up with other things ^^ but these are wonderful and I'll try to do one soon!
3
For my 'other' vote, it was because my skinning style didn't really fit coherently with it.

THIS IS A REAL CHALLENGE! ILOVE IT; MORE SUCH PALETTES!
