It depends on how many the other submissions have. The more diamonds they have, the more you need.

I have a question basic, if you're skin doesn't have alot of diamonds, could it still make it to finals? I mean, it says the more diamonds, the higher chance you have making it. ?

No, if mine didn't have a lot of diamonds it wouldn't. I do have enough diamonds on my skin right now to make it into the finals.

I don't like that. It gives new skinners next to no chance of making it into the finals!

The finalists are based on the amount of diamonds they receive, at that particular stage, each skin isn't individually judged. Therefore the more diamonds; specifically ones given by judges, the more likely the skin is to reach that phase.
