Alienware is owned by Dell, Stay away from both if you want a gaming computer. As mentioned above, Go for an ASUS

Don't get an Alienware

Alienware are just over priced PCs

The stupidy of some people here always amazes me. Dell is for office work, alienware is overpriced gaming in a fancy glowing package.
If you want to take part in PC gaming learn what the parts do and make a custom built.
Its cheaper, Runs better and you gain knowledge in the progress

Agreed, that neither are great options and custom built is best(I personally built a computer in September, and it runs almost any game beautifully, for a grand) but I disagree with your claim of stupidity being an attribute of everyone who has given a legitimate answer to this question. The OP had narrowed it down to two options in his mind, and wanted to know which was better for his needs, so we answered accordingly. That doesn't make us stupid, it makes us people who actually pay attention to the post we are responding to.

Same thing. If it's Dell, it sucks, if its Alienware, it sucks. Build your own PC gosh dang, if you are interested in a gaming PC.

1. they are both the same.
2. Alienware is horrible because of its price (Don't buy alienware)
3. Dell is good as a buisness/office computer NOT for gaming

Moved. Please post your threads in the correct section, thanks

Dell sell / own alienware .... they are basically the same... would be cheaper buying parts through dell or another online provider to match alienware specs....

I'd recommend a dell, I've heard of issues with Alienwares in the past overheating?
1
That is in the past modules mainly to be specific almost all r1 alien ware the next one is way better(comparing r1 and r2 alienware strictly not including any other laptop in this comparison) in heat management and I am not sure about newest one with the new module
lets leave that aside now. I say either asus or vaio although vaio has pretty good heat exhaust it will throw that heat quickly outside resulting in really hot air vents but I think asus is more of average than it

EXACTLY. That is where dell's build is better. specifically in the GPUs, the fan positioning tends to be horrible, making the GPUs heat up really quickly. Honestly, I wouldn't get either, but DONT get an alienware.

Neither. Go for Asus

If you're going for a laptop, I recommend getting neither. You can get a lot better, for a lot less. Get an Asus, if you're going for quality and speed. If you're going for uber swag tricked out looks, get Alienware, they're pricey though.

Dell isn't good but it's better then alienware
1
Not alienware. You can get a dell customized with almost identical specs as a lot of alienware models, but the Dell components are much better built.

Dell is more for an all-round laptop
Alienware is expensive gaming
