So apparently there's a new Minecraft launcher and it wants me to update it. Problem is I dont want to and I only play Minecraft Java Edition and no other games on my computer. Do I need to update even though I dont have a Microsoft account and I dont have any other games on my computer?

Let me tell you about something called the boiling frog.
The premise is that if a frog is put suddenly into boiling water, it will jump out,
but if the frog is put in tepid water which is then brought to a boil slowly, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death.
While the one who made this test probably had some mental issues, the premise still stands.
If changes occur in small waves, or happens slowly, the majority of the people won't know that it happened until it happened.
Microsoft, like other companies, likes to boil the frog slowly while making changes.
They do this so we don't know it happened until ... well, it happened.
And to avoid a lot of controversy that follows if people saw a sudden change that's bad for their favorite things.
All of this is a part of a major plan that while I don't know what that's going to be,
I have a feeling that it's not going to be good for the Java edition.
About the launcher problem, once enough people migrated, they'll force it out on us, to get the rest of the people there, or leave the ship. That's what I'm guessing based on the boiling frog thing.

Huh, i kind of like that analogy...even though it is a bit morbid. It is like Microsoft and Facebook--im sorry...Meta-- are trying to rule the world. I dont like that whole virtual rooms that Metaverse is.
why would minecraft update because some other games are on your pc??
That's just it...there are no other games on my PC. I guess no one uses Minecraft Launcher on their PC anymore. I guess i dont have to update my launcher if i only have Minecraft on. Or i just buy Minecraft for the Switch...im sure i can remake everything...
you make no sense dude
Everyone looking at this - try opening your launcher and see what happens, you'll see what this bloke means.
I dislike Microsoft very strongly, bordering on hate.

Oh, the Launcher that you click on your desktop to choose from Minecraft dungeons or Java. I already migrated my account. They say they want me to update the launcher so i can access all games in one spot but i only play Java Minecraft.
If updating the launcher won't do anything to the game itself, then just update it. I already did it, and it hasn't affected my gameplay.
if youre talking about migrating your account I think theyll eventually the unmigrated mojang accounts so I think u should
but idk if thats true
but idk if thats true
I thought all accounts were migrated by now
some arent because they arent automatically migrated, players choose when to migrate so some just dont :p
Yeah, you might.
But with very little description, its hard to understand what you mean by "launcher".

Can you explain more by new launcher cause i dont understand
There is an update related with the gamepass, you can reinstall Minecraft Launcher
I just got the update alert you can find the new launcher in the microsoft store
I dont want the Microsoft Store though. Can I still play without updating?
Yes, I do it
Gamepass? What is that?
xbox gamepass
its like uh
netflix
but for games
its like uh
netflix
but for games
Oh, well ill never use that.
Eventually you will not have choice in the matter if you want to use Mojang/ Microsoft auth systems/servers and connect to certain content. You will be locked to a private state whereas you can run or play on private server build version the flavor you like. This isn't simple to do for many.
I would suggest a third party launcher/client if not wanting to stick with the updating of their game and client structure.
