Minecraft is the game with most copies sold and one of the most popular games in history but eventually things lose popularity and Minecraft is suffering that a little but its not close to dying yet unlike other games. But maybe in 6 or 7 years another game beats Minecraft in copies sold but that is really hard, but if that happens Minecraft will always be remembered maybe in 100 years they teach in history classes some good old Minecraft facts (not very likely but it would be funny) and i think Minecraft will always be nostalgic and the best game in a lot of hearts...

MINECRAFT NEEDS TO LIVE FOREVER
YES
Well, nothing really lasts forever, Minecraft is at its peak right now, we dont know when it will end. Soemwhere deep into the future, it might end but its not the time for that right now for it to end, if it did, We will always remember it as the game that brought back memories, and fun.
Twelve crying eyes stare into the sky.
Their great towers crumbled beneath the world, shattered onto the shores of the universe.
From their ashes grew fields of broken glass.
We who fell, we were born anew, shaped by the hands of death, to carry death.
See us.
Sever our strings to soul. Let us become your ender.
Let us cleanse the world of this curse, at last.
May your will be ours.

Currently and years from now , nope. Relevancy/nostalgia yes, player count will fluctuate till an improved version that has MC elements with it's own unique twist & better performance overall.
Doesn't help that MC development especially for Java tends to be lack luster at best. Playing too safe for a long time without setting out to new boundaries will in turn be the ultimate piece in the slow burn , as the original & a couple next generation players slowly fade from this world, the next that come after will set their eyes on other games that come after will move toward games willing to take risks MC stopped taking years ago.
Nerveless I can agree with your statement : " Minecraft will always be nostalgic and the best game in a lot of hearts.. " that is 100% true and will continue to be. Community will continue to stay strong, however the leadership of MC is the main weak link in all of this. Personally view the community as the heartbeat , blood, and vessels, while the leadership is at times the blood clot xD

just look at TF2, no longer getting updates but still being played. same with CS:GO.
I think (for java) if they add more paid content than just realms like on bedrock (marketplace) Hytale might get a lot more players and Minecraft would loose some.
Yeah
"This too shall rot"
No, not at all. Steve and his allies will defend their world from Herobrine along with the Nether and End dimensions and the Pillagers for generations to come.
someday it will, even giants fall
NO MC IS TOO PEAK TO DIE

Minecraft will exist in some form or another as long as people can use it to express themselves artistically within it and share it with others. That's the magic that keeps it a living entity.
I think it will eventually stop getting updated but it will just keep living
I agree
yes
Minecraft is staying for a long long long time
10B years at least
don't know if that much XD
У всего есть предел, даже у майнкрафта

I have one word: no
Minecraft has too many players to just 'die'

I have ceased.
No, Minecraft will never die.
probably not
I think I'll be 100 years old on my deathbed, holopad at my bedside, and out of pure instinct, open up Minecraft, creating a new world named "New World" on version 67.69, and just before I can finish a dirt hut, I'd pass into the Nether lands.

Noooo! Get that accursed number away from me!
67 67 67 67 67 67 67 67
Minecraft never dies
Hope it doesnt die
Yea
honestly, I feel that there will always be people who love the game. I mean, look at us. This community is only growing. I doubt anyones going to nuke MC anytime soon, and if they ever do, it'll truly never die, because Minecraft isn't just the game: It's also the people
If they drop more updates then probably not.
even if 'they' wouldnt drop updates anymore. The community will. Thats exactly what minecraft is.
nooooooooooooooooooo
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I think it's in a similar vein as W.O.W. classic, and Touhou, Friday Night Funkin' basically as long as people have the slightest interest there will be a server or means to create one somewhere out there, I don't think microsoft can kill Java but I'm sure they wish they could.
Minecraft will only die if Microsoft kills it irreversibly. Otherwise it will stay alive forever
