GGs Java, Your clearly the best version, i guess
[deleted]
yes
I prefer java, but bedrock isn't as horrible as people make it out to be, although it is flawed.
*sigh* gg java lol

Java as you can play with mods + you can play vanilla with the same version
The one I really like is the alpha 1.0.6.0 version on the minecraft pocket edition because I have it on the Oppo phone
zaviebee :O
There could be a both option. Honestly, both have their pros and cons and I play them for different reasons based on what I plan on doing.
I like bedrock and java, but I mostly play on bedrock because it doesn't make my computer lag even though it's almost the same things. I play java because I can explore the 1:1 scale Earth.
Guys i've reset the votes
Now, ALL OF YOU MUST VOTE BEDROCK >:D

java is best as you can mod more efficiently and it has more stuff also dont say u cant play multiplayer too cos u can with mods and in servers AND it has shaders and i know that bedrock will too but java has had em longer and it has optifine so that is why java is better that bugrock
here is why i like bedrock 1 it has more features 2 it does not have hard core but still you can play survival 3 there has been colored water :D
java has more features or they are both even, you can play survival without playing hardcore, there are 5 difficulties ( peaceful, survival, hardcore creative, adventure. ) and you don't have adventure do you? idk honestly.
java also has colored water, I waaaaaaaaaaay more easier to play older versions on java, and it should be " Minecraft " Minecraft is just java and " Minecraft: C++ Edition " Because java came first.

also bru nobody wants to waste 7 iron on dying there armor, but the tipted arrow couldren feature is pretty good.
can you elaborate on those more features?
facts
Quick question to the bedrock voters, what would you say is bad about java?
:( i don't know but hard core needs to put on bedrock editition
I believe the reason it hasn't been put onto bedrock is because there are bedrock bugs that cause players to die in the middle of falling, elytra-ing, etc.
idk for sure though
idk for sure though
here's a tiny list
Java Cons:
Java Pros:
Java Cons:
- You need a launcher just to open the game.
- Entities can push you instead of the opposite.
- Shields don't do knockback and can't be used while holding a bow and similar items.
- Minimum requirement to play multiplayer with someone outside your lan is to have 195 IQ.
- Vanilla is nothing more than a suggestion.
- It's wrongly named as "Minecraft: Java Edition" instead of "Minecraft: Secondary Edition" now that Bedrock is favored by Mojang/Microsoft.
- It is always run inside a Java Virtual Machine and you need the correct Java Runtime installed to play it.
- It's written in Java which is slower than C++.
- Menu UI is from 13 years ago.
- It's only available for Desktop.
- Render distance is way more limited due to how bad performance is.
- Crash Reports may as well be written in enchantment table language due to how bad they are to read.
- It's being sold together with Bedrock, that should be illegal, no one should be forced to have Java just to play Bedrock.
- It's missing a lot of features from Bedrock, like, coloring leather armor with cauldron, moving containers with pistons, skins with transparent pixels in the bottom layer and more.
- It has microtransactions while most people say it doesn't (Realms).
- Creating a world has a chance of overheating your CPU.
- Minecraft Java is single-threaded, making it even slower.
- Chat Reporting System is way, way worse than Bedrock's.
- You can't make a funny name with it like Bugrock.
- Does not have support for RTX nor Deferred Lighting.
- and for last, it smells bad.
Java Pros:
- Snapshots always come first and now it began to use a Bedrock-like version naming.
- Combat is not mindless clicking causing your weapons to survive longer.
- Java walked so Bedrock could run.
1. Who really cares about needing a launcher, it doesn't really affect anything.
2. Honestly, I don't think that matters. They should be able to bustle you around. You do not have infinite strength,.
3. Why would a shield do knockback?
4. Nah, the iq requirement for that is more like above 40.
5. I'm not quite sure what you mean by that, but I believe having extensive mods boosts freedom and user creativity.
6. no comment
7. I've never had to install java to use minecraft, only for using certain mods.
8. Fair, but optimization mods exist and with them it can run even on my crummy laptop.
9. I think it looks better than Bedrocks (an opinion thing, but whatever) and it pops up right away, as opposed to bedrock's stupid animated menus that slow everything down and can be detrimental in pvp.
10. Yeah, but bedrock doesn't have full compatibility either. Mac and Linux can't play Bedrock.
11. Who needs a render distance of more than 32 chunks?
12. Do you have a sample of Bedrock crash reports to show contrast?
13. Ok, brilliant argument there! We'll just ignore all the logical fallacies.
14. Yeah, fair, just like Bedrock lacks a lot of java features, like a proper offhand and being good!
15. Still has a lot less microtransactions.
16. Really? In my years of being in the mc community, I have not once heard of that...
17. no comment
18. Kind of a plus, as chat reporting just sucks and should have never been added to the game.
19. Because it's too serious. Java doesn't mess around.
19. The thing about rtx is that when it was added to bedrock, it removed support for shaders. Now, you need a fancy $1000+ graphics card to have it realistic.
20. You got me there.

1. Extra button is too much :(
9. You can turn off the animated menus.
10. Why are you trying to run Minecraft on a Mac? 😭
11. Content creation probably, although the render distance is limited on most servers and realms.
14. Bedrock isn't inherently bad, and compared to a lot of other games that are considered "buggy" (fnaf), bedrock is actually pretty good. I think it just gets a bad rap because it is always compared to Java.
19. Bedrock players actually like having fun.
19. I hate rtx because of that, and you also said 19 twice lol

9. I think so. It works for shops on Hive and that's all I ever needed to know
10. fair, but compared to xbox and nintendo that's a rather niche problem.
19. that really is impressive though. If there's one part of Java that's definitively better, it's redstone.

why we always typing at the same time

- It affects the amount of clicks you need to open the game.
- It's a problem, also Steve can carry so much blocks and take down a tree bare-handed it might as well be considered infinite strength.
- Why have a shield to defend yourself but be unable to get yourself away from enemies?
- There shouldn't be a requirement at all.
- OptiFine, Sodium, etc. If you have Java, you most likely have an optimization mod due to performance issues.
- You know it's true.
- You don't need to install it because it's automatically installed or bundled with the launcher.
- An optimization mod isn't going to make Java faster than C++, and now you're talking about modded Minecraft Java.
- Bedrock menu animations can be disabled through the options menu.
(also I think you might have noticed they changed the world creation screen to feel more like Bedrock)
- It has more compatibility than Java will ever have.
- It's not about who needs it, it's about you can't have it.
- Bedrock doesn't need crash reports, if it crashes, most of the time it's a bug and needs to be reported to Mojang. The user shouldn't be the one having to read crash reports anyway.
- Yes!
- Bedrock is missing offhand from Java because it would not work with the classic Touch Control scheme for mobile. Java is missing Bedrock features for no reason, come on they can't even give the fishing rod a 3D bobber?
- Yes but people shouldn't be saying Java doesn't have microtransactions.
- You now have, no need to thank me.
- And to make it multi-threaded would require rewriting all the code, something they'll never do.
- It's a plus Java has the worse chat reporting system? I'm officially confused
- I agree, it's serious, seriously boring. But on the bright side I think mods can fix that.
- That's what Deferred Lighting is for, it's supposed to work on everything even on mobile.
- gotcha! and you can't prove it smells good!
Mojang prefers Java.
Microsoft favors Bedrock.
That's the only reason Bedrock still exists.
Microsoft favors Bedrock.
That's the only reason Bedrock still exists.
so what Panda_Tyger said "Bedrock is favored by Mojang" isn't very trustworthy...?
anyway I think it makes sense since the Creator Docs are on a Microsoft site after all. I feel like "Mojang/Microsoft" still makes sense but thanks for clarifying.
I know there's something missing about "That's the only reason Bedrock still exists.", but I can't put my finger on it right now.

Also wait bedrock doesn't have any transparency in skins
Bedrock lets you use transparency in the bottom layer, you can make a skin without head and stuff (my skin has no legs), short among us skins are a good example of that;
Java turns transparency in the bottom layer into opaque but it lets you use translucency in the top layer.

Oh
yeah
I confused transparency and translucency lol

"no one should be forced to have java"?
It's free lol
You don't have to play it if you don't want to
It's free lol
You don't have to play it if you don't want to
If the price of both haven't been merged then yea, I guess it's free
What do you mean "You need a launcher for Java" that implies there's no launcher for Bedrock, which is a lie.
It implies that because it really doesn't have one, do you think a launcher would work on mobile and consoles or even be necessary? On windows 10 you just click on the game and it opens, not a launcher, it opens the game.
for Java you're required to use a launcher unless you like playing with system commands
for Java you're required to use a launcher unless you like playing with system commands
sounds like someone cant afford java lmao
looks like you can't afford an username, and it's free.
Java comes free with bedrock lmao

Is the main excuse.
Is the main excuse.
I mean, half of Java’s player base also has that same issue with the game, so it’s not a uniquely bedrock thing to complain about.
Honestly nothing. I'm just new to java after my bedrock career.
Lemme just copy/paste this from my other reply…
-I personally don’t think the chat lets you read enough of the previous messages and it looks like a terminal you would type cheat codes into in a valve game.
-You can’t go higher than 32 in the render distance of the base game. (Bedrock has 96 or something depending on your device.)
-Again, whenever I try to run Java I get a worse frame rate, and while 48 isn’t awful, I did say that that was the highest I can go, not what I actually get on average.
-Bedrock can actually be played on different consoles and allows more people to interact with and enjoy the game. Java does not have this feature.
-Bedrock gets custom events from Mojang with custom models and assets, like the upcoming Universal event. Java does not have this feature.
-Bedrock servers can use custom 3D models for their NPCs and custom blocks. This is used to great effect by The Hive and Cubecraft. I am not aware of any feature like this on Java.
-You can turn your single player Bedrock world into a multiplayer world by just inviting your friend to your game. Base Java does not have this feature.
-Java’s block placement system is worse. On bedrock you can just hold down the mouse button when building a long line of blocks.
-Java doesn’t have big salmon lol.
-Java servers can’t stay afloat for long since Hypixel sucks up all the players. That’s why The Hive shut down over there. (I acknowledge that a similar problem happens with features servers on bedrock, but we do have some servers that aren’t featured such as Zeqa that are doing well without being featured.)
-Java has chat reporting. (Modding a problem out of a game doesn’t mean the problem isn’t there.) [Ik bedrock has more censorship, but that provides a better environment for the younger players.]
-Bedrock has better online safety features to accommodate for said younger player base.
-Java can’t change skins mid-game. (Ik it can change packs, but I feel like I personally would want to change my skin more than the look of the entire game.)
-Java’s features for map creators are worse. Because of the marketplace, bedrock map creators have a lot of tools at their disposal to add effects to their maps that would require mods on Java.

1. Chat settings.
2. Check my other reply.
3. Optimization, bedrock is better for slower devices, I'll give it that.
4. Fair, but I also have friends who are unable to play bedrock because they're linux only, so bedrock isn't perfect in that respect.

9. Doesn't really matter.

12. See previous.
13. Fair, but most don't use that.
