    Hello and Welcome to the first Skin Base Jam! Maybe someone has done this in the past, but I sure haven't so... the first!

    This jam is pretty simple, you make a colour block skin base, and publish it to planet minecraft before submitting it here. My only thing is that you encourage them to post a link to any skins they make using a base to this forum thread. So I can see all the lovely things people made without having to go beg that an admin let me make more then three jams.

    But skin base is used to mean a couple of different things, so to clarify, here is a quick explanation of what I mean by 'skin base'.



    Above are two examples of the basic idea, a lot of you will be familiar with these from re-shade jams, or even from your own skin-making process.

    The sort of skin base I am looking for here is a basic unshaded block out/plan of a skin, with base colours already chosen. You can do like the option on the left and wrap the whole design around, so that the sides and back are marked out. Or you can do like what I did on the right, and just do the front.

    You can also either do what I did on the left, and specify skin and hair colour, or you can just do an outfit outline like I did on the right. It’s up to you.

    Both the examples above are in the 'modern'/'normal clothes' style, but you can do any style you want, as long as you don't break the rules...

    1. No skimpy bases, no bikinis, underwear or things that are basically just barely qualify as actual clothes. I don't mind if your outfit is off the shoulders, or showing the character's belly, I'll even stand for the short shorts, but no deliberate near-nakedness.
    2. New/Original Bases only, basically don't take a skin you made previously and turn it into a base. You can base your base off of a previous skin of yours, or make a base from an incomplete skin, but no taking a complete skin of yours and turning it into a base. And no taking someone else's skin for this purpose either! Again, I'm not stopping you from taking inspiration, but it's got to be your own work and something new.
    3. No plain colour/two colour bases, PMC already has rules against flat single colour skins, but for this specifically I am saying at least three separate 'colours', they can be shades of the same colour, but three or more is the minimum. Ideally aiming for four or more separate base shades.
    4. Bases must be free to use. Part of the point of this jam is to increase the number of skin bases available for people to use! If you don't let them use the bases, then there really is no point! You can and should demand credit, but no restricting use beyond requesting people don't use them for malicious purposes.
    5. Have fun, be nice, this jam isn't even ranked! You have no excuses. Only fun allowed here.


    Okay now that the rules, and general okay-what-dis stuff is out of the way, I'm going to get to the why.

    And it’s pretty simple! I like using skin bases, but there aren’t a lot of those around.

    And there is a reason for this, a complicated combination of things that really boils down to, why would I do that? I post finished skins, not bases for other people to use.

    But I am here with the why! A jam, which you have to enter with a skin base.

    I know, clearly I am a genius. And you should shower me with praise. The guest book is open people...

    Okay but for real, enter your own base into the jam, take a skin base from here and shade it, do it all! I'll probably be using a lot of the skin bases from here (depending on how popular this gets) so if you want me to shade something this is a pretty good opportunity to make that happen!
