my issue with generative AI is that it steals from other artists hard work and efforts, being trained off of them unwillingly. being able to replicate a person's art with the click of a button discourages creativity and undermines the work put in by the original artists. generative AI imagery is not "real art" and is just replicated patterns an algorithm spots in an image.
I also believe that using generative AI even just in the ending icon of a texture pack says a great deal about the person creating the pack and the pack itself. consumers generally do not want to interact with something that involves genAI. most people wouldnt click on the pack if a clearly genAI icon was used, it implies that genAI was also used in other processes even if it wasnt, and many people find AI assisted or generated content to be "cheap." I understand you and others may not have this opinion, but it seems like this is the general sentiment amongst most users considering the comments and contents of this
thread as well as many other spaces online. (obiviously including myself).

my argument in my original post was poorly worded, it should have moreso been taken as
my stance on genAI rather than a definitive "this is my word my word is final" typa deal, since this is a thread about pmc users' opinions. i sort of thought this would obviously be taken as my opinion considering the topic of the thread being a question, but thats my bad.
my argument in my comment responding to you was that PMC should be treated as a creative space and not just "a site for minecraft" because really, its both.
at the end of the day,

my opinions are going to be highly biased. i am obviously going to base my arguments on what i do and do not like! this is a thread about opinions, after all. the anti genAI sentiment is shared amongst a majority of artists and to dumb my argument down to "people shouldnt be able to do X because I dont like it" is a bit insulting to me personally. im not trying to sound like some end all be all entity.
i do apologize in the case that my arguments are poorly worded, i do not often express or debate about my opinions.
