So let's say hypothetically you had a perfect box.

By that, I mean that you have a box which nothing can possibly get in or get out, ever. Let's say it's one square mile by one sqaure mile. A mile-sized perfect box.
Let's say, in the box, you put your neighborhood. Your house, your neighbor's houses, a low-flying cloud overhead, all the air molecules, and a bit of dirt. You close the box.
Now nothing, not even energy, will ever be able to escape, until the end of time. Nothing will be able to get in, either. Not even sunlight. Let's say this box is completely indestructible. It'll survive the destruction of earth as its eaten by the sun, and everthing. It's a perfectly closed system.

This is where things get weird.

Over time, things begin to change in your box. That low-flying cloud bounces off the walls, for example. The grass grows for a bit, then dies, since no sunlight's getting in for photosynthesis, and no water is getting in to drink. (There's no people in here). Whatever trees are inside the box also die, and oxygen stops being produced in the box. Eventually, the houses collapse after centuries of not being maintained. The trees fall down, the grass decomposes, that low-flying cloud eventually disperses and is destroyed. Due to random chance, two pieces of wood would hit each other in such a way a fire would begin. Given infinite time, it's inevitable this would happen.
The fire turns whatever's left to ash, after a few hundred years.

That's all understandable. I'm sure you're all aware things change over time.
Now, here's where things get confusing.

There is not an infinite number of atoms in your box. I'm sure you understand that. There's a finite amount of space, and a finite number of atoms in that space.
Because of that, there is only a finite number of combinations those atoms can be arranged. This means that eventually, after an uncountable amount of centuries, the atoms in the box will begin to repeat their positions. Random movements of the air molecules will hit the dirt, will blow around the ash, will slowly destroy your street. Entropy increases, and all the atoms in your perfect box begin moving more and more randomly.
Due to this random motion, anything can happen.
For example, a bunch of air molecules could bounce of the wall in such a way that all of them hit each other in the center, creating a little noise. There is a non-0% chance of this happening. Meaning, it eventually will, in infinite time. Eventually, just due to complete randomness, every single air molecule will have bounced toward the center of the box, hit each other, and create an explosion.

Eventually, random explosions like this will destroy the street, creating sand, and especially hot explosions will turn that sand to glass.
Glass is created from nothing but random movements of air and street molecules.
Eventually, a bunch of carbon atoms and water molecules, as well as all the other atoms needed for life, will randomly meet up and form a perfect seed for a tree.

A tree seed, that will grow into a perfectly healthy tree, created by nothing but random movements of atoms.

And, given infinite time, things will only get weirder.
At some point, everything in your box will become a chair. That chair will eventually catch on fire and turn to ash and smoke, but random explosions from that smoke will melt the ash, creating a strange type of solid rock, which will then be broken down by air molecules and turned to dust.
Eventually, everything in your box is turned into clocks, all at the time 3:39. Then, eventually, everything in your box will be turned into water bottles stuck on the ceiling by randomly created super glue. Eventually, a nuclear bomb will form out of the nothingness, explode, destroy everything, only for atoms to eventually reform.

After a lot of time, the random movements of these atoms will turn back into your neighborhood, just as it was before it was put in the box. Eventually, a person will be created out of nothing.

Seem impossible? Well, we're talking about infinite time in a closed system. This is just entropy. Eventually, random movements of atoms will cause a whole bunch of atoms to hit each other and react in such a way to form an iPhone. Or an Android phone. Or an iPhone that coincidentally has all of your personal information stored on it.

This is the concept of entropy. Any system naturally goes toward chaos, and out of that chaos, anything can happen.

The Universe is like a perfect box.
