day 4 of songtober (today's prompt was Cactus) also violin playing reveal!!!

okay, this might be my favorite thing i've ever made

i chose to take a very imagery-focused route when making this. the piano and the tremolo strings are meant to represent a desert, and the cello and violin represent the cactus, a little bit of life growing in the sand.

day 3 of songtober (forgot about day 1 and 2 ;-;)

I'm using the Inktober prompt list, today's was "miniature"

tried to get that small vibe by using a bunch of small toy synths. the main lead is a Stylophone (that's pretty out of tune, as you can probably hear) and the drums were sampled from the Univox Junior toy drum machine. also threw in some vocal samples that i had lying around because they sounded cute <3

(i suck at mixing so it doesn't sound all that good without headphones 😔)

made this yesterday out of boredom, not my best work

this is actually really close to the style i had when i first started making music

far more sample based than my more recent stuff, which means it's more repetitive

arandomcat04 • 2026-10-03 11:13:54

i could imagine this as a short area theme, not bad at all!

was researching the history of liminal photography, so i searched something up about the origination of the Backrooms and how that whole concept came to be

google decided to give me a ton of webpages and medical documents related to Dissociative Identity Disorder instead.

what the heck bro, why'd you have to scare me like that, i thought i might be going insane or something

CalDoesStuff • 2026-09-29 10:27:37

yeah, for the most part. I think it was just a glitch, my search query included the word "did" so I think it bugged out and focused on that word only?

I've seen people say it originated from 4Chan and if so I would be very very careful and likely stay away from the site as it hosts the worst sorts of people like Nazis, hackers, doxers, bigots, and more. Very bad place. I'm sad something wonderful came from there ngl 😭

best times to songwrite:

1. when you are sick

2. from 11:56pm-2:59am

creativity stops functioning at any other time

I'll listen to one vocaloid song on repeat for two days and then forget that vocaloids exist for a month until the process repeats

i don't know for how long, but there's just been way too much drama on this site recently for me, considering that this is the place i go to escape from the stress of real life.

see you guys soon :D
