i read the ai safety infos website.

must of the stuff i found was from 2017, or at the latest 2023. and they are talking about the exact same issues we have now. and they are being listed as warning shots, which are really important. depending on humanitys response it determines the course of wether we survive a disaster as a species, and how soon we regognise somethings wrong.

and we arnt doing to well.

all the stuff theyre talking about is happening.

and all i want is to be sitting on my familys carpeted garage floor again in the summer holidays, as an 8yrold, listening to the radio and reading my childhood dads crappy 80s misogonistic problomatic as hell sci fi novels, that he didnt want to throw away, thats covers were practically falling apart, and reading about concepts like ai taking over and killing us all, and thinking how unrealistic it was and that would never happen in real life.

i wish i still thought that. i wish i could reread my childhood novels and not be deeply disturbed by how similar they are to our reality.

the warning shots are so, so fucking clear. good god.

having a confirmed over 10% chance for extinction IS a big warning shot. not to mention thats only whats being revealed puplicly, which will likely be dwindled down to avoid panic and legal action, other studys point to chances as high as a 99% extinction rate for building super ais.

it has gotten that bad in the background.
