    No offense intended but from my point of view this boils down to using a most likely illegal copy of Minecraft, and that's a topic which I'm sure won't be appreciated on these forums.

    The main caveat here: can you log onto the Minecraft website? Access site, log on using the link in the upper right corner. If that works then you should be home free. Download the official installer, uninstall what you have now (that won't affect your data directory) and continue from there. For best result you might even want to rename your data directory before doing this. So: open your file manager, go to %appdata% and rename the .minecraft folder you see there.

    But if you can't log on then there's not much we can do here for the simple reason that you don't really own a legit Minecraft copy.

    Sorry for a late response. Correct. That bugs me too, no customized stuff.

    Difficult question. I somewhat stopped bothering because there was tons of other stuff to explore and the rest got filled in with functions and such. I would probably skip the crafting itself and just rely on item amounts. Have players collect enough stuff, dump that into a magical chest (I dunno).. and wham.

    Wait.. Naruto you say. hmm.. I'm not necessarily a fan but I do watch 10 vs. 1000 quite often because, oh dear.. that sound, that animation, hardly any filler (my main gripe with Naruto)... this here kicks total, uhm, I dunno :) (for non-Naruto fans: don't bother with the build up if you don't want to, skip to 1:10:00 and enjoy the ride. You will. If you're really impatient 1:13:00).

    So your question isn't so much the best way to craft. But it should also be the best way to craft in the Naruto universe. Let me think about this and get back to you. I suppose we could use a magical chest (dump items in & replace 'm) but...

    I'll get back about testing dispensers.

    To put this very simple: The Java edition is the real original Minecraft, it's the version as it was initially developed by Notch. And yeah, there are some differences.. Fair warning: I never bothered with the Win10 edition myself so I can't fully comment on it, only hear-say.

    The main difference though is customization. On the Bedrock / Win10 edition you can't easily change stuff. I don't know for sure how you'd update your skin, but mods and such are a no no. With that I'm referring to (for example) stuff like this:

    This is Forge + Industrial Craft 2, Applied Energetics, Tinkers Construct, Integrated Dynamics + Tunnels and my trusty resource pack :) That green / purple block thing you see before me? It's an auto-crafter, it can actually craft stuff on my command. Those blue / cyan screens in the back ground? They give me access to my "electronic" storage and automated crafting recipes.

    That blue pipe attached to the chest? It's collecting items from it and transports it onto "digital" storage. How items get there? Well.. That row of white blocks? Those are machines; one drills for ores, the other refines / grinds it, the next one smelts all the dust and that gets collected in the chest.

    The Java edition provides you with pure freedom. You won't find skin packs from famous movies to purchase simply because the Minecraft community makes those for themselves and most of us share with said community. Check out the PMC skin section for example.

    And said Java edition allows you to upload said skin directly from the launcher:

    Heck... On PMC you don't even have to bother with uploading using the launcher (I had to because I have a rather personalized & custom skin): on PMC you just click "Change my skin" whenever you see something you like and done.

    At the risk of sounding like a marketing drone: did you know that PMC has almost 2 million site submissions featuring Minecraft stuff? No, that's not 2 million skins, but I'm sure there's enough stuff here (skins, projects, mods) to keep you busy for a long time :)

    And that really is the power of the Java edition. Full customization, full access, full control over your game. Even running your own server can begin right from the launcher you see above. You can't say the same for Bedrock / Win10.

    One way to control what items an Enderman can pick up is to overrule the #minecraft:blocks/enderman_holdable tag.

    But other than that I think your best option is to use a server such as Spigot or Paper, then you'd have more options to protect yourself the players from mob damage; there are several custom settings but also plenty of mods available to help out.

    Late reaction but: most definitely. There's nothing like a nice evening playing survival and exploring hidden caves with my friend(s), especially if we're talking about ravines and there will be bonus points if it also has an abandoned mineshaft somewhere (I love those).

    To me the best servers are those which provide a bit of variety. I especially enjoy servers which allow you to play both survival and creative alike. It could even be a win-win because buildings which were made & designed in creative might even be useful for the server itself.

    The server I currently frequent even gives players access to /fly (if you ranked up highest or if you become a supporter). Which, for me, seriously enhances the game even more. Now I can fly around to look for nice spots, and when I find one I turn fly off (so I also take fall damage again) and start exploring and playing. I love that: being in full control over my game.

    It also helps me to continue to enjoy survival even after a long session in creative (single player).

    But yeah: survival ftw

    I think your post is a bit confusing because basically you can only have 4 game modes: survival, creative, adventure and spectator where the latter is kind of useless on a server I suppose ;)

    Another issue I have with the poll is that you're mixing up quite a bit. I mean, 'Parkour' is basically a mini game, but that could also be easily played on that whitelisted survival server ;)

    As mentioned below the Minecraft wiki is usually the best place to go to. This page explains the whole concept of datapacks. In short a datapack is basically a placeholder for your collection of Minecraft customizations. Stuff like recipes, loot tables, advancements and functions.

    Making one is actually quite easy but not very well explained on that page I think. Basically it boils down to this:
    • In the world list ('singleplayer') click on the world for which you want to create the datapack, then click edit (in bottom left corner).

    • Click the option 'Open world folder', your default file manager opens and you'll be taken to the world itself. Now you should also see the 'datapacks' folder, open it.

    • Create a folder using the same name as you'd want to use for your datapack. It won't be used anywhere else but your datapack (basically you'd only see it when using /datapack list).

    • Create a text file called "pack.mcmeta" according to the data shown on the wiki page.

    Basically this is what a regular pack file could look like:

    {
    "pack":{
    "pack_format": 1,
    "description": "Experiments for the Redstone world."
    }
    }

    • Create the 'data' folder and then create a namespace folder.

    • For the best results you should now create the full folder structure as shown on the wiki page I linked to before (so: advancements, loot_tables, recipes, structures and tags (don't forget the sub folders in this folder as well)). It won't make a big difference but whenever you want to add something to your datapack you'll now have the location for it already available.

    A namespace is basically what the main name in your stuff should be. For example: /function catslair:tools/shell. This shows you that my function is called shell, sits in the 'tools' folder and is defined within the 'catslair' namespace. So somewhere in my datapack folder I have this setup: data\catslair\functions\tools\shell.mcfunction.

    Using a 'minecraft' namespace only makes sense if you plan on overriding stuff like recipes or loot tables though it's most commonly used to set up specific function tags.

    And that's basically it. Now you can add functions, structures, and other stuff. Don't forget to use /reload after you did so while the game was still running.

    I love this! Showed it to my gf and maybe its our age but we both felt that this was definitely the right thing to do here. It doesn't always have to be about prizes, emeralds, diamonds or stuff. Sometimes it's about sharing & caring.

    We're in as well (it will be me sending in the stuff but it'll be a mutual effort). Planets + Minecraft + Event and scary stuff? What's not to like ;)

    Nice idea.

    Have you ever considered playing on a server though? I happen to know a rather mature US server which is pretty active and can basically be considered "vanilla+". So: it provides a survival game play but enhances on that with several of their own customizations (most of it is custom coded).

    Now.. I myself no longer really play on that server for personal reasons (nothing too negative) but the reason I mention it is because I know that there are more whole families playing there and having fun. I played on said server for around 4 years or so and well... it beats having to pay $10/month for a realm ;)

    The best part is that you can easily meet up with others players but without having to worry about griefing (long story but the server either allows you to claim your own 60x60 sized residence in a town world or start building in the (never resetting) survival world where you either claim ("establish") an area or simply go somewhere free and start building.

    Food for thought perhaps? You'll have more options to protect your own work, have fun and as said: meet up with others.

    Note: the only reason I actually recommend this server is because the whole setup is very serious. A nice PG friendly environment where plenty of players are having tons of fun. Also because I know at least 2 other families who play there (along with many more players of course).

    If interested then drop me a PM and I'll point you to it (they have a PMC entry). I'm actually not sure if I'm allowed to mention server names but it doesn't matter because even if I am allowed then I still prefer PM because I don't want to advertise.

    I personally always prefer the latest version, so right now that will be 1.13 but next year I'm sure that's going to change to 1.14.

    But the best version overall? Simple: the one you (not me) like best, because it will be you who's going to play with it and who needs to enjoy it. That's actually one of the things I love most about Minecraft: want to play 1.8 again? Simple: make a new profile, fire up the game and wham, you're done.

    I think I found the solution... After I created a singleplayer Buffet world I examined it using NBTExplorer and noticed something very peculiar: generatorOptions. This is an option inside level.dat but it doesn't really resemble anything remotely useful for generator-settings.

    Even so, I remembered reading about this aspect here (Minecraft wiki on multiplayer in superflat worlds):

    In order to create a Superflat world in a multiplayer server, the level-type flag in server.properties must be FLAT, instead of DEFAULT.

    Once a multiplayer world is created, the server.properties fields have no effect on chunk generation. Instead, just like in singleplayer, the level.dat fields for generatorName, generatorVersion, and generatorOptions are used instead. If you want to alter a world after initial creation, these are the settings to change.

    So I copied the level over and tried this out on my own server, I can confirm that as long as you set the level-type to BUFFET then all the new chunks will be created fully according to your level.

    Therefor your solution:
    • Create a Buffet world in single player, when done copy it over to your server.

    • Have the server generate a regular world (so also a regular server.properties).

    • Edit server.properties: set level-type to BUFFET and level-name to match your actual level/world name (or just rename the folder of course).

    Done.

    As said I tested this out for myself: had a small world then teleported myself 500 blocks away and the server simply generated new buffet chunks: same biome and same world setting.

    How did you add the world to the server in the first place? My guess is that you created it in single player and then copied that world to the server? Because that would definitely explain what happened: while the already generated terrain was of a buffet type any new required chunks weren't. And considering your question I guess you never changed server.properties, so your server would then resort to the regular world settings for generation.

    Solution is to reconfigure your server. Edit server.properties and set level-type to BUFFET, and add the required biome type to generator-settings. Unfortunately I can't really help with the generator-settings because it uses a rather specific syntax which is poorly documented.

    There's way too much to sum it all up. From crazy blocks like glazed terracotta (blocks which have patterns on them) right down to concrete and illager mobs :)

    If you want to get a good overview then I suggest you use the Minecraft wiki, Here is the page about Minecraft 1.8, just click the arrow at the bottom of the overview box on the right to move to the next version.

    It's not a pirate ship, it's simply a ship build by the villagers to sent off their spoils to Switzerland for safe keeping :P

    But as one could expect villagers aren't very good at anything other than trading emeralds :D
