The girl with the dog, unmodded. It always gets to me and most resourcepacks totally ruin the vibes for me.

    Lame.

"Too scared to add", may I ask for sources to back your claim?

Not to mention that I couldn't help but notice that your video heavily depended on others to make your background music. So I guess you're too scared yourself to make your own music to work with your video? I mean, seriously: not one, not two.. five sources for your background music?

It's ok to be insecure about your own stuff you know....

Oh wait.. unless of course you're Mojang, according to your own words.

    As I said: lame.

Thank you all for sharing! Can't say I'm surprised with the results.. I mean; I've been playing Minecraft since 1.8, got into it at 1.7.10 and here we are. And up to 2 weeks ago I've always used the vanilla launcher.

    Thanks you guys for participating!

To be fully honest I've been playing with modded Minecraft for so long now that it has become a bit difficult to get excited about vanilla features.

Don't get me wrong here: the crafter is most certainly an interesting item. But ... it's also fair to say that it doesn't quite compare against Thermal's sequential crafter, or Create's mechanical crafter. And don't even get me started on Applied Energistics 2 autocrafting.

NBT is indeed the answer, another solution than those below mine would be to rely on tags.

So... some of you mentioned that you're still using the vanilla launcher, also because it seems a bit daunting to try something else.

Well... that calls for some help I think, so I just finished writing a blog post: Setting up Prism, why & how. That should help you guys to get started if you want to. And don't worry: as also explained in the blog you can safely try Prism next to your current setup, it won't touch nor change a thing.

Hope this can help out a bit.

Simple reasoning: because I / we are in full control of our game, and it's still something we really enjoy playing with.

But most of all: mods, I run a (private) modded LAN server and all the extra stuff is just amazing. We fought dragons, trolls, gorgons, sirens.. We studied and scribed mystial spells, performed forbidden rituals to gain more power... but at the same time I also build us a much better replacement for the standard furnace, we now crush our ores before smelting them.

    Once you get into modding....

This doesn't help but ... I'd try to focus on other means to improve your graphics. OptiFine is getting worse with every release it seems, maybe Rubidium? Or.. if you're only playing vanilla-ish perhaps rely on Iris/Sodium?

Sometimes taking a break is a good thing. My gf and me haven't been playing for most of the last year and right now we're fully back into it.

I would also consider looking into mods. There are dozens of mods available and there's something for everyone. From small QOL additions (Quark comes to mind) rigth down to mods that completely spice up existing game mechanics with extra's, now looking at the Thermal Expansion series; ever wanted to grow tomatoes, radish and rice? ;) Or just revamp Minecraft completely.

And it doesn't have to be all that hard to set up either. Plenty of 3rd party launchers out there which are actually pretty darn good!

When I want to set up a specifc new instance for Forge (or NeoForge) which uses some specifc mods then I don't even have to leave my launcher these days.

That sounds more like a mod rather than a resource/data pack.

    > I mean, first you'd need a script writer

Why? Even Hollywood has no issues with just making up a story and then coming up with ignorance or excuses and sometimes plain out disdain when things don't quite match up.

    > multiple Voice Actors and Body Actors

I've seen / heard girls on YouTube who could mimic an incredibly unlikable male voice. If it weren't for the videos I honestly would have imagined a male voice actor.

Body actors? Errrr.... are we sure we're talking Minecraft here? the game mechanics can control pretty much all entities, if you press the right buttons. And players are essentially entities too. Which you can control.

And yah... I'm not even sure what you're talking about :P

Content farms? Just because you see multiple videos coming out in one day doesn't imply that this is bad sports. I mean: I hope you don't believe that TV shows "which even name the day they air" are all live, do you? Shows which air on TV for only 20 minutes a day usually get shot on-mass: a whole season within a few weeks. Because... "easy".

Why should it be any different for some monetary greedy YouTube channels?

    > If you think that's the case, I urge you to stop reading this right now.
    > Because I don't need people saying this never happened.

If you don't want the attention, then why seek it out in the first place? Who are you to decide what people can or cannot say? Instead of trying to condemn those people put more effort into presenting a credible issue.

See, you share a lot of details yet none of it has any merit to the story. Why even bother to mention Herobrine if you're worried about people not believing you? I mean, you put attention to server details and sever politics yet don't even bother to mention if the server was modded or not. In addition you don't even bother telling us about "YOUR" server: are you running this on a spare computer in your household or did you apply for a vague company to host the server for you?

See, this also works against me believing anything about this: your server and yet you never bothered to... I dunno: check the server logs? You run your own server yet don't even know how to control it?

And before we even go here: I actually do believe that something happened, but obviously not the nonsense which you try to imply.

I think you need to talk to your friends because from my POV someone is trolling you hard. And instead of working towards that you talk about herobrine, phantom bans, servers disappearing and then only giving us a map seed, as if that should have meaning.

Want to understand what's happening? Then don't try to prevent sceptics like me from commenting, because people who can think "out of the box" are exactly what you need in weird situations that you fail to understand. or.... isn't this about wanting to learn what happened in the first place? ;)

    Anywhoo...
    • What Minecraft game are you playing on? Modded or vanilla? What version? And if modded: what mods?
    • Where is the server hosted? Was it a free server or a payment plan?
    • How much do you actually know about server hosting / administation? Did you involve friends?
    • Why did you never check the logfiles?
    • Did you see any proof of that sign being there?

Potato, what else... who are you? A fellow potato too? (just messing you guys!!).

Seriously: potatoe. You can eat, you can plant and you can impress any player you meet :P

It impressed a German king of the ages, it'll impress you, especially after it's cooked!

This message was sponsored by team Potatoe, we endorse your European hopes all the way from Berlin (Potsdam actually but who cares) :)
    Go POTATO!

Spigot is a Minecraft server, same as Forge can be. And it's also a modloader, thus providing options to use mods with it. There's really not much difference here, it doesn't matter if a mod can only be used server-sided or not, it's still a mod.

I mean.. there are even Forge mods which can only be used on a server.

Every once in a while there's a chance that your games titlescreen will show up as Minceraft vs. Minecraft. I'm not sure in what way this could be affected by resourcepacks nor am I sure if this mechanic got changed over time.

If you change a vindicators name to 'Johnny' he'll go completely berserk and will attack everything, including his fellow pillagers.

I suppose that's just me but I dislike the extra "bloat" which simply isn't needed. I also don't like the idea of them keeping track of everything I do; because you'd always need to be logged in to use the app.

And of course... easier isn't always better. I've come across several mods which had a dependency marked but the overview clearly stated that this wasn't required from certain Minecraft versions and up. After a clean start I removed the dependency and sure enough: it kept working. The app would have simply picked up on the dependency link and have insisted that I'd keep those unneeded mods around.

    (edit)

Another thing... understanding how things fully work and being able to set up things on your own will also make sure that you won't be limited to just using CurseForge. If I wanted to use Spigot for whatever reason I simply have to follow the same steps above to make that work. Same for Fabric. Not every modloader provides an app ;)

I'm not really interested in joining other servers and such, but... why not take this opportunity to learn the craft?

Voting... Minecraft has a scoreboard option which allows you keep scores for individual players on whatever. This means it can keep track of the votes, but you can also use it to keep track of the fact if someone already voted or not. This wiki page is honestly a good read for all this.

I could imagine setting up a commandblock which keeps track of people clicking a button and which will both up the ante for whatever option they voted on as well as make sure that the player gets 'tagged' for having voted. First you'd accomplish with the scoreboard, the latter with merely adding a tag to the player. Basically short for /scoreboard players add '@p' "vote". And of course /tag @p add voted.

That's roughly the main jist required (in a nutshell of course).

Now... I don't really bother with following Tubers for several reasons, and thus I only recognize one name in this list. And that guy most certainly isn't a pro, in fact.. he was one of the reasons which made me realize that not every Tuber is really genuine in the way they present themselves.

I'm talking MumboJumbo.... See, I'm a geek/nerd when it comes to Minecraft: building a 'good' looking house will take me a lot of time and if you'd look at the results and hear how long it took me then I'm sure you'd be asking yourself how the heck that happened. But ask me to automate a house and even within the confinements of said house and I can probably make things happen. There's a reason why my Minecraft skin looks like this (custom made in a competition and I'm still so proud of it!), in specific: why it has redstone dust on it.

So yes, imagine me mighty surprised to see the 'great' MumboJumbo present themselves right after the observer block got released. The poor guy acted like he didn't have a clue on how to put it to good use! And he made it very clear that the video which I watched was made several weeks (!) after the release and that he had used the block before. But... nope!

To add insult to injury... the video which he was making was a re-visit of an old design of his and it would have been the best usage of an observer! See, he had made a "wheel" of blocks (square of course) where each side got pushed forth by pistons; the idea was to rotate the blocks in order to have specific ones in a certain place to release a lock.

Yah... very peculiar to say but the least.
