I recently replayed "THE DROPPER" (using a version compatible with modern Minecraft).

Because I have the Distant Horizon mod installed, the awe-inspiring spectacles that once seemed so vast back in the 1.5 era now reveal their boundaries with ease in the current version.

It has to be said that this game has changed a lot.

I began modeling the structure for levels 1 through 4. The columns here are concrete, yet—surprisingly—they feature corbels extending from their tops. This situation is relatively rare in current building structural design.

At first, I assumed the floor slabs were steel, but the flaking paint didn't look right for steel, and the surface showed signs of weathering characteristic of concrete. I then considered whether they might be prestressed beams, but with a span of only 8 meters, prestressing wouldn't typically be necessary.

Later, after researching some Soviet architectural structural designs, I found that this "corbel" design was actually quite common, which I'm a little unclear about.

I suddenly realized that I had forgotten the concept of "prefabricated buildings": MZK's concrete structural components should all be prefabricated, which is also a typical feature of Soviet construction engineering.

China once followed this model for a period of time, but gradually returned to cast-in-place concrete structures in the 1980s due to quality issues. The concept was only mentioned and used again after the 2010s, so I didn't think of it at first.

    1. All Sketchbook Journey entries have been copied over to Neocities. Difference in when a new entry is uploaded to PMC/Neocities depends on circumstance, but should continue to be unnoticed.

    2. Cara.app seems to be testing a new anti-scraping measure that causes embedded images (like here on PMC) to disapear after a while; so I've changed the image hosting to Neocities, which should let the images I embed in wall-posts (and on my PMC profile) stay up. My apolegies if you saw one of my wallposts without an image and just thought "what is bro talking about???"

🎶We've come too far to give up who we are.🎶

🎶So let's raise the bar and our cups to the stars.🎶

Certain Grass’s interpretation of the lyrics:

When you finally realize you are "creating a terrifying monstrosity in Minecraft," you find there is no turning back—simply because you have already done so much.

So, your only choice is to see it through to the end; after all, the result is something you can be proud of for a long time to come.

Based on the video, MZK's side room was clearly used as a stairwell. I am currently using "Pale Oak" series blocks to construct the railing—merely as a placeholder—and plan to replace them with "Poplar" series blocks once I update to version 26.3. The side room is divided into two sections by a partition: one is the aforementioned stairwell, while the other is presumably an elevator shaft, though no footage exists of that area. In accordance with the project's "prudent" guidelines, I will not restore this site until I find concrete evidence.

New update over on our Patreon! 🌆

Alongside downloadable server maps, our Patreon now also features news straight from our website and lore. Right now you can read our article on Denebol Prime's interactive Metropolitan Plan — how it came to be, what it contains, and how to use it. Next week we'll be posting another post about our website features.

One important note: these posts are free to read, no payment needed. The only thing that's paid is downloading specific server maps.

It's a shame to think that such an exquisite structure will eventually be crammed into this "boring" big box.

By the way, I’ve already flown 21,000 kilometers in this world—a distance that would take me all the way from here to Argentina.

Posting this old chibi drawing I made back on 9/9 of 2023. I would make a new one but I'm hella tired from a long work day.

This is a question I get asked all the time: Will AI replace creators? My personal answer is: even with tools more powerful than GPT-Astra, AI will not replace creators.

To use Minecraft build as an example: beginners learning WorldEdit or Axiom's builder will be led astray by the tools they have for a while. The result is that the entire building looks like a combination of various default effects. Only through long-term learning and critical thinking will the builder gradually shift from being "controlled by the tools" to "controlling the tools themselves."

So, will AI really replace creators? I only think that AI will make creators with critical thinking skills even more powerful.

    Do you prefer:
    1. Finished illustrations, but roughly only 1 wall-post per month
    or
    2. Sketches, but a wall-post once a week

(Hint: Your answer will effect my uploads)

    What AvatarKage said.

+ Sketches, breakdowns, progressions, before/after, timelapses, weird adaptations, digital, paper, printouts, printouts on holo paper or other, or into 3D prints, Finished illustrations, finals, final_finals, finals3.

Do whats most fun to you, there are tons of ways how to share stuff, and all are cool to experience.

I got so engrossed in watching movies that I started rewatching more science fiction films.

Some of these movies were in HDR, which I originally intended to watch comfortably on TV, but it got too late. So I had to watch them on my computer's SDR screen with the brightness turned up.

There's also a classic segment: picking out engineering design problems from frame by frame in the film, just for fun. Of course, I'm also looking for prototypes for my next Minecraft build.

Noticed odd behaviour of mine: If I tell someone I'm doing something, I stop doing that thing. If I don't tell anyone that I'm doing something, I keep doing it.

(Most people know I'm drawing, so I've stopped doing it. Few people know (or care) that I have a website --> can't stop working on it)

Am I weird or is this normal? Feels normal to me, but I'm starting to question it
Edit: When I say "I've stopped doing it" in reference to drawing --> I haven't quit, but I've significantly cut down on what I put into it.
    Stubbs12026-09-06 06:47:08
Does explain a lot though. Guess I gotta stop yapping about everything I do, until after I've already done it :'D
    MegaMinerDL2026-09-05 04:21:50
Last I read, it's something about the fact that telling others about something gives you the dopamine hit you'd normally get from actually doing and showing the thing. It's why I stopped doing promises xD

Let's get back to MZK's work.

I'm currently working backwards on the design of the side room (stairwell), and I have to say that my civil engineering degree has been a great help to me.

Floors 1 through 4 are concrete structures, so we will not proceed with their construction for the time being.

I just finished watching Project Hail Mary, and I absolutely loved the plot and the spaceships.

Until I saw a scene (no spoilers), a building in the distant fog—I could recognize it even if it were ashes:

Baikonur, Site 112A, the MZK facility—suddenly came into view just as I was trying to relax with a movie, as if to tell me: Hey Certain Grass! You have a super big project you need to work on right away!

    Uh…

I sometimes forget that even PMC has trolls on it, and that no matter how much one tries to understand them and extend a hand: Some people have no will to do anything but be absolute idiots. Not naming the name of this user in question, blocked them. So even if I'm being a bit petty typing this out – Thank you, to all the people on here (the 99%) who aren't complete and utter, absolute blithering idiots.

With that out of the way. Its been a while since I've updated whats up in my end.
All my focus has been on my Neocities. Finished up the template I need to copy Sketchbook Journey entries over. This includes moving all image-files I use to my neocities storage, instead of Imgur, as I've noticed that some of the older Imgur pictures I uploaded, have all disappeared.

Sometimes I fantasize that my Minecraft builds have received official recognition, and I'll get some kind of reward: like a ticket to the Shikishima train, a free tour of MZK facilities with travel expenses covered, or even a visit to a movie set.

But obviously, none of that happened. But obviously none of that happened, but I won't lose my enthusiasm just because those things didn't happen.

Submit them to the next Minecraft Live. Perhaps they'd get displayed for a second or two
