Woo more criticism talk. This time with more examples.
NOTE: when I say "criticism" I mean constructive criticism. I got lazy and didn't write it all out lol

Again, this is on the topic of skins, which are a form of art. Art is subjective, so take this as you will... and try to remember that everything is context-based; some things listed here will not be suitable for certain situations when it comes to giving criticism.

All of the examples I'm giving are really simple ones and won't go too far into the depths of art being subjective. They're just examples and here to help anyone who might need it.


Starting off...

General criticism:
Instead of telling someone, "The shading is bad", try thinking about why it's bad. Is it inconsistent? Unrealistic? Tell them that, and try specifying where it doesn't work. For example... "The shading on the arms and legs is inconsistent, try changing it up to
match the rest of your style."

If you're finding it difficult to narrow down what to criticize, then there's probably not much to criticize if anything, and it likely won't help.


Specific criticism:
In the case of someone asking for criticism on one specific thing, try not to comment on anything else. Commenting on other things that aren't related to what they want help with will make you look quite rude most of the time.

For example, if they post an image of a full skin but ask for tips on hair shading specifically, try not to talk about how the colours clash on the rest of the skin or how the shading on the outfit looks weird, just do what you can to help with the hair shading if you're looking to give criticism.


Some quick, short, really general examples to wrap this up...

"The colours are bad" ---> "The colours used on X THING seem to clash with Z THING. Maybe try changing it up?"

"Your hue shifting looks terrible." ---> "Your hue shifting can use some work, here are some resources that can help..."

"The shading doesn't make sense." --> "The shading on X THING looks strange when paired together with the shading on Y THING, maybe try experimenting?"

"Design is bad." --> "The design for the entire skin looks really plain, maybe try adding X THING and Y THING? Or add some details to Z THING."


Hopefully, this helps someone, at least a little bit.

oh oops I forgot it’s December already, will get that art raffle up after school

so happy that terms like demiboy exists. Although I am genderfluid i tend to express myself as masculine.
However, I don't feel like a boy 100% of the time. Sometimes I feel nonbinary, or somewhere between a boy and nonbinary. and man, demiboy really helps. I just feel so seen and I'm soso glad that it exists.
