      happy new year!

it hit midnight over here an hour ago, and the channel we were watching was a minute behind on their countdown and i saw that there was 1:12 left at 11:59, which would result in it ending at 12:01. I told my family this just in time and we were able to count down with 6 seconds left as the clocks on our phones hit 12:00.

      (i saved new year)

i love how the entire internet is currently like "yay to sharks, down with the dolphins!" but the entire reason i like dolphins is because of how humanlike they act. Maybe if we put the dolphin mentality on ourselves, we could have much better behavior as a species, lowering crime rate and improving ourselves.

so I told chatgpt to write an essay about "johnathan nintendo", the "founder" of nintendo

The Legacy of Johnathan Nintendo: The Unseen Founder of Nintendo

When we think of Nintendo, we immediately picture iconic characters like Mario, Link, and Samus. We envision groundbreaking consoles such as the Nintendo Switch and Game Boy. However, behind the myth and lore of this beloved company, there is an untold story—a different version of history where the name Johnathan Nintendo stands as the originator of the global gaming empire we know today.

Johnathan Nintendo was a visionary who dreamed not just of playing cards, but of something much greater: an interactive, immersive form of entertainment. According to this fictional tale, he was born in 1860 in Kyoto, Japan, into a family that had long been involved in the card business. Unlike other contemporaries who were content with simple gaming pastimes, Johnathan saw the potential for entertainment to evolve in unprecedented ways.

      The Beginning of the Dream

From a young age, Johnathan was fascinated by the concept of games. But where others saw card games as the pinnacle of fun, Johnathan believed games could be more dynamic, more engaging. As he grew older, he became fixated on the idea of merging traditional games with new, emerging technologies, and this passion would eventually lay the foundation for his groundbreaking company.

By the age of 29, Johnathan had established his own company, which began producing and selling playing cards. While the business flourished, Johnathan's true ambition always remained just outside the realm of traditional card games. He wasn’t content with producing simple objects; he wanted to change how people interacted with entertainment itself. What if games could be played in a way that was entirely new, through machines rather than cards?

A New Direction: Entering the World of Electronics

As the world moved into the 20th century, technology began to advance rapidly. Johnathan, ever the innovator, saw the potential for this new era to change the landscape of gaming forever. He began experimenting with electronics and early mechanical devices, dreaming of a world where games were no longer confined to physical cards or boards. By the 1920s, Johnathan had already begun work on his vision of a fully interactive gaming experience.

His breakthrough came in the form of an early arcade game prototype. Using the limited technology available at the time, Johnathan created a rudimentary machine that allowed players to interact with a screen, guiding a character through various challenges. Though basic by modern standards, the concept of an interactive electronic game was revolutionary and set Johnathan on a path toward a new frontier of entertainment.

The Birth of the “Nintendo Game”

By the late 1930s, Johnathan Nintendo’s vision had taken shape with the creation of the “Nintendo Game”, a game that could be played on a mechanical arcade machine. Unlike any game seen before, this one featured a character that could jump, avoid obstacles, and progress through multiple levels, all within an electronic environment. The game quickly gained popularity in Japan, and its success would serve as the foundation for what would become Nintendo’s future in gaming.

Johnathan’s approach to game design was radically different from others. Where many saw games as simple distractions, Johnathan viewed them as art. He was deeply involved in every aspect of game development, from the mechanics to the visuals, ensuring that every game was not just fun, but beautiful and engaging. As his arcade machines gained popularity, Johnathan began working on developing home entertainment systems that would bring his vision into people’s homes.

      Expanding the Nintendo Legacy

Johnathan Nintendo didn’t stop at creating arcade games. He saw the bigger picture: gaming was not just an activity, but an experience that could bring people together. He pioneered the concept of interactive entertainment as a communal event, designing spaces where people could gather, play together, and share in the thrill of competition. His vision was clear: gaming was not just for individuals but for families, friends, and communities.

As the 1940s and 1950s unfolded, Johnathan’s arcade machines expanded internationally. Cities around the world began to host Nintendo arcades, each one filled with the bright lights and sounds of Johnathan's creations. Games like Jumpman, featuring a character who would later evolve into the famous Mario, became hits, drawing crowds from every corner of the globe.

By the 1960s, Johnathan had begun creating home consoles that would forever change the entertainment industry. These consoles allowed people to bring the magic of Nintendo into their living rooms, offering experiences that would later become known as some of the most iconic video games of all time.

      The Legacy of Johnathan Nintendo

Though Johnathan Nintendo's name would eventually become legendary, his legacy is one that shaped the video game industry for generations to come. His company grew into a global powerhouse, creating groundbreaking consoles, beloved characters, and an enduring legacy of gaming innovation. From the early days of arcade machines to the revolutionary home systems, Johnathan Nintendo’s foresight and dedication to pushing the boundaries of interactive entertainment set Nintendo on a course that would make it one of the most recognizable and influential names in the world.

Today, Nintendo continues to be a leader in gaming, producing some of the most innovative and successful consoles and games on the market. Whether through characters like Mario, Zelda, or Metroid, or through the creation of revolutionary consoles like the Nintendo Switch, the world Johnathan Nintendo dreamed of—where games brought people together—continues to thrive.

In the end, while history remembers the name Nintendo, the story of Johnathan Nintendo is one of quiet genius, an unseen founder whose vision would change the way the world plays.

AI used to be sassy too. Sometimes I could ask it a question, it would give an answer that was wrong, I would tell it it's wrong and it would argue with me. And like I said, sometimes it was sassy about it too. (Specifically bing, don't know about the others)
