    Kinda random, but this is test is actually inspired/based off of mbti!

    I'm kinda a bit of an mbti nerd. Got into the cognitive functions. What I find funny is that this test is actually more accurate than 16p. (Still not 100%, no test can be, but 16 Personalities isn't even mbti at all. It uses a fundamentally different system to type people. I could get into it, but this isn't supposed to be a rant post.)

    I just read an article on venting. It was pretty interesting.

    "Venting as Emotion Regulation: The influence of venting responses and respondent identity on anger and emotional tone" if anyone is interested.

    I've recently been suspecting that venting increases emotion instead of deflating it, specifically anger. Venting kinda comes from the idea that emotions are pressure, and can build up over time. I'm not actually sure if that's true. Might be completely off, and the more I think about it, the more I think that maybe my view of emotion and emotional regulation could use some work. Intuitively I understand emotions decently well, but when describing them I tend to use the same language that venting suggests, which changes my understanding.

    I think a fair amount of people on the internet and irl see venting as a good thing, and I'm kinda starting to see it as dangerous. Not that it's bad to state your emotions, but that dwelling on them can reinforce thought processes that may or may not be true. The more you practice a habit, the easier it gets. The more you have an emotion, the faster you'll have it. If that's anger, and you're thinking about the cause of the anger more and more, you're not getting over the anger, you're actively growing it. Emotional expression doesn't release the emotion, it builds the emotion.

    I've had my fair amount of crushes. Whenever I wanted to stop crushing on someone and I tried really hard to not think about them, it made the crush worse. Thinking about them in the background made it worse. Thinking about the fact that I had a crush on them made it worse especially.
    What actually helped me calm down was changing my focus. I didn't try hard not to think about them. I let my attraction exist. I felt it, and then I let my brain naturally change the subject. Eventually, the excitement faded because I didn't feed it.

    There's also the aspect of validation and saying things out loud, which both further increase whatever emotion you're discussing. Dwelling on an emotion makes it bigger. Repeating something makes it easier. I find this concept very interesting and I want to flesh it out more but I have stuff to do.

    While I'm here, I have a bit of an announcement: I'm considering putting this account on hiatus sometime soon. Not right away, but maybe a bit later in the month. I'm not really doing a lot here right now and some of my energy is probably better focused elsewhere. There is something I'm working on and hoping to get done before I'm gone though, don't worry.

    To be honest, I'm not in the best of places right now. I don't want to get too deep into all that though because frankly it's not your business.     Two scientists. Both see things almost coldly objectively, but share a good amount of opinions on life, how people should act, what emotional reactions are stupid, etc. Over a couple of weeks they work on a largescale project together for the same company. They work together as if two parts of the same person. Efficient, smart, countering each other at every turn, and complementing each other perfectly.
    They find themselves falling completely in love. Both of them think this is ridiculous, and a distraction from the actually important things, like the project. Throughout the story, both are working on a speech that they are to give at the company's presentation of the project.
    One of them has this nagging moral dilemma in the back of their head regarding the project. Something about it doesn't sit well with them. About halfway through the story, they figure out that for some strange reason, the fact that the project could hurt a lot of people has made them grow to hate it as much as they love working on it. Realizing this, they scrap their well thought out speech that's taken them a while to come up with and write a new one the day before they give the speech.
    On the day of the presentation, they're the first person to talk, and they open with praise, before quickly turning the attention to the dangers of the project. Shocked, the people in charge take a minute to cut off the speaker. They move on to the second scientist, who gives a beautiful speech about all the good things the project will do for people worldwide. You couldn't have even been able to tell that the first speech had gone badly if you'd arrived late by way of the second scientist's presentation.
    Backstage, the second scientist pauses as they pass the first, locking eyes. "I'm attracted to intelligence, and for a minute there you had me absolutely smitten, but then you said that, and anything I may have felt instantaneously vanished."

    I haven't really thought beyond that. Kinda think the first quits and the second absolutely hates them but doesn't know why they're so stuck on the other one. Lovers to rivals to enemies? Lovers to rivals to lovers again? Idk, but either way, DRAMA
