Considered a bad omen and said to be the bearers of death and spawns from the underworld, people from all parts of the world are frightened of encountering a hellhound. A gaze into their eyes or hearing their gastly howl may symbolize your imminent death. While they might be interpreted as force of evil, hellhounds are guardians to the entrances to the world of the dead, like a cemetery, and are not ferocious or vicious in any sense. Additionally, they help humans that will soon pass into the afterlife and protect supernatural things from the outside world.

The appearance of a hellhound can be explained as large large black dog. The eyes glow intensely red from their deep sockets. They may also be imbued with fire abilities such as scorching their immediate surroundings, being unharmed by fire or being summoning from a fire. Possessing fire-breath and looking like a literal burning canine seems to be a concept from fantasy and video-games, so I made this hellhound to be more traditional.
