An entry for the Mythical Creatures Mob Skin Contest.
The Oni is one of the greatest icons of Japanese folklore.
Oni are typically depicted with red or blue skin, messy black hair, two horns, and tusks protruding from the mouth. They are said to bring disaster and disease, along with punishing those who wind up in Hell.
Oni are formed when twisted and pure evil humans die, being sent to one of the hells in Buddhism. They serve the Great Lord Emma, ruler of the Buddhist hells. Their job is solely to destroy, punish, and bring disaster to anyone in their path.
However, there are cases in which an Oni is created while the human host is still alive; this happens only when a human's soul is far beyond any sort of redemption- the worst of the worst. These Oni remain on Earth, terrorizing humans and spreading fear all across the lands.
