The pacifist nature of the villagers, was their downfall against the grater evil that was John, and thus, the monster rearranged the villagers into these horrifying amalgamations of organs mixed up in places where there shouldn't be. the worst of all, is that they can still make their characteristic sounds they use to communicate, which makes it all the more uncanny
