The mod adds a self-writing fullscreen map to your Minecraft client. Works as a separate mod but is a lot better with Xaero's Minimap. The reason why it's available separately is to keep Xaero's Minimap as light-weight as possible.

The mod is in beta testing stage. The testing is open so anyone can download and try the mod out. Please report any bugs that you encounter or otherwise they won't get fixed. Use PM to report bugs.

Install by dropping the jar into the Minecraft Forge's mods folder, as usual. A step-by-step guide is available on the download page.

  • Self-writing world map. Different for every world/dimension/server.
  • Works in Singleplayer, Multiplayer and on Realms.
  • Interactive interface. Open by pressing M. Move the map around with your mouse and zoom in/out using the mouse wheel, similar to Google Maps.

  • Texture Pack support. Changing the texture packs updates the whole world map and not just the new chunks.
  • Cave dimensions support (similar to Nether).

  • "Footsteps" showing your most recent path.
  • Optional performance boosters.
  • Xaero's Minimap integration. The minimap mod will display chunks loaded by the world map. The world map mod will display waypoints from the Xaero's Minimap. Also works with Better PVP mod.
  • Off-screen waypoint menu that can be opened on the map GUI by placing the mouse cursor in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Selecting a waypoint from the menu with the mouse scroll wheel and clicking the right mouse button will quickly move the map view to the selected waypoint to speed-up map scrolling.You can also start typing a part of a waypoint's name to filter out unwanted waypoints. Pressing ENTER will restart the search.

+ Added a way to filter the waypoints in the bottom-right waypoints list by typing a part of the waypoint's name (ENTER to start over).
* The whole map will now load over time in the background even if you're not looking at certain parts of it.
* Map data will now be compressed to take up about 15 times less disk space on average. Loading the map data for the first time after updating might take longer than usual because old files are going to be compressed first to work with the new mod version.
* Day/night cycles will no longer require the map to reload. The mod might use more VRAM now though. You can control how many light levels there are in the mod settings (more levels = more VRAM).
* Fixed the game crashing when opening the world map with every type of waypoints disabled.
* Fixed black squares "randomly" appearing on the world map caused by Wynncraft and potentially other servers sending empty chunks.
* Fixed snowy mountains looking completely white with no slopes when terrain depth is enabled.
* Fixed transparent blocks light levels not updating in certain circumstances. Might drop the overall performance, let me know if so.

* Fixed some saving bugs thanks to which new/overridden map regions will now use less disk space.
* Reworked water biomes. This should fix the permanent "wrong biome lines". New/overridden map regions with water biomes will now also use less disk space.
There could be some temporary graphical glitches when overriding old maps but they will disappear on the next map refresh (for example, when world time changes).
It only happens once so I didn't fix it for performance reasons.
* Downgrading to b1.5+ from newer mod versions will no longer cause data loss. If the mod is unable to load a newer file, it won't try and back it up instead (thank me later).
This IS NOT present in version b1.4 or below so DO NOT downgrade to anything below b1.5 even if there's a new bug. Please report the bug and wait for me to fix it.
* Fixed nether detection not always working.
* Fixed a VRAM leak.
* Fixed compatibility with Factorization mod hammer functionality.

+ Added MultiWorld support for multiplayer servers and realms.
Worlds created by modifying the same world save will most likely share the same multiworld ID so the system isn't perfect.
+ Added Realms support.
+ Added new visual terrain options to the world map settings: terrain depth and terrain slopes.
The "terrain depth" option adds depth to the world map by using blocks' height levels to calculate brightness.
Slopes are what was used prior to this update but it can now be disabled if you like minimalism.
The new options have absolutely no impact on the performance.
* Fixed '_' usage in the world IDs. I have no idea why I didn't do it from the start, probably forgot.
IF a new save is started for your world then to fix it go to ".minecraft/mods/XaeroWorldMap/" and find your world's map folder.
The name of the folder should look like
<world name>_<dimension(null for overworld)>
,
for example, "newworld_null", "newworld_dim-1" etc.
Replace any underscores ( _ ) in the <worldname> with "^us^". Exclude the quotation marks ( ' ).

- Removed forced Vsync. I still recommend using it though.

Suggestions:
  • Allow 0.25x zoom on world map and make the icons and names half as big when on that zoom level.
  • When minimap is installed, allow creation of waypoint via right clicking on the world map - equivalent of pressing B and inserting X and Z (Y=64) values. Maybe just place a waypoint named "temp" with initial "^" (caret) in dark gray without backing out of the world map. Replace when another spot is right clicked.

The waypoint idea sounds great but it's not as simple as it might seem as the mod is not aware of the Y coordinate that you're pointing at. Changing this would cause overall worse performance. The Y coordinate is needed for rendering the waypoint ingame and for teleportation.
And I don't think anyone really NEEDS 0.25 zoom. It would also make the performance worse even on other zoom levels. You should try the quick hopping system described in the mod description.

Probably because LAN has a new IP every time, so the mod has no way to know that you're on the same server. You can change the map data folder name manually to a new IP.

I just want to say that I love the new update - it really improves the mod- lower filesizes are awesome. Additionally, the ability to filter waypoints is really useful.
However, would it be possible to search through hidden waypoints. Also, I have found a bug, video of which is shown below:

That's not a bug though, you're supposed to use the mouse wheel to select waypoints.
Hidden waypoints will most likely be updated in the next version so I will probably address the search.
And I can add the searched text somewhere if that will make it easier.
Are the waypoints in "undiscovered" areas supposed to be in undiscovered areas? Some people have been having issues with world detection on servers that use compass to point to the player's home instead of the spawn.

I realised that's not a bug when I read the list - Oops haha.The waypoints are meant to be undiscovered - I downloaded them offline in rei's minimap form from http://minezmap.com/ and wrote a quick script to convert them. That is not an issue with the world map.Being able to see searched text would be so much easier, thanks

I have a prtoblema, but with the mod xaero's minimap.
What happens is that when I enter the minecraft with mod installed and the forge this error occurs:

The game crashed while there was a severe problem during mod loading that caused the game to fail
Error: net.minecraftforge.fml.common.LoaderExceptionModCrash: Caught exception from Xaero's Minimap (xaerominimap)

It happens when I enter the minecraft, but to solve it I have to delete a notepad that is in the .minecraft / config section and the one that is xaerominimap, I have to delete it to let me enter the minecraft again, but when I do this I will Restart the whole configuration of the minimap, but it is the only way to let me enter the minecraft.

Pasa cuando entro al minecraft, pero para solucionarlo tengo que borrar un bloc de notas que esta en el apartado de .minecraft/config y el que es xaerominimap, tengo que borrarlo para que me deje entrar otra vez al minecraft, pero cuando hago esto se reinicia toda la configuracion del minimap, pero es la unica forma de que me deje entrar al minecraft.

First off let me say that i love the map and minimap. I've been away from MC for several years, and this mod has become an essential for my return :D





I'm using this on my server, and the server's /tp utilizes usernames and not coordinates (uses /tppos), thus breaking the teleport function of the map.


Is there any way to change this (or set a config/flag for which to use)? Just curious. If not, i'll just have to manually put in the coords :P

May I suggest that you include a feature that allows hidden waypoints to be reenabled on the map screen so that we don't have to go through two layers of menu to re-enable disabled waypoints. For example, my use case is for Minez on the Shotbow server, in which there are at least 124 waypoints by default, only using major locations, so the ability to hide most, but enable them without scrolling through menus would be a make or break thing for me.

Press U to open the waypoints menu straight from the game.
Also, try the waypoint sets feature, it lets you organise your waypoint into categories and then view 1 set at a time when you need it.

Thanks for the hotkey - that will be useful. But the problem is that there is no easy way to find a specific waypoint, other than scrolling through the list. I have discovered the category system - I am going to include minor locations in their own category, but it is still a pain to select the right one.
Do you mind if I suggest a search feature for the minimap in this section, rather than the minimap's post.
It is very good to see someone always taking in feedback - it shows what a great community you are creating.
I presume forge already has a search api, as it supports searching through mods - but I could be wrong.

Personally, I prefer the waypoint look of voxel map - with the beacon at the location of the WP, but I have just discovered your waypoint names over distance setting, which is good.
Also, is there a setting which allows the distance to display, even when within 20m - sometimes in mazes it doesn't work.

Furthermore, what is your multiworld naming convention - why are they called mw9,0,9 for example - as there are multiple instances of minez running at once, it is possible to run have multiple sharing their location datas. Voxelmap's solution is to use a multiworld selector, but I think that is custom coded, so I won't try and ask you to do this - I know that I can use the scroll in the top left of the waypoints, but I am wondering if there is more native support.

EDIT: I presume that this is just what the client is told about the multiworlds, so it is the simplest solution?

Why would you need the distance to waypoints closer than 20m? You can see exactly where they are on the minimap anyway.

I suppose so - it is just what I am used to. Also good idea with switching key bind. What did you think about searching for waypoints and making the disabled one visible on the world map? It would be a lot easier in most cases - a setting for this would be helpful.

This crash report is not related to any of the mods.
Does it only crash under 1 circumstance: both mods installed?
From the report it seems that it would crash with no mods installed too.
It crashed when either mod is on, whether it be Minimap alone, World map alone, or both together

Well, im using your minimap mod and thought this is just the addon so I get a worldmap. Thats why I didnt read the description I just read "Xaeros Minimap Integration" haha :D
